River View Golf Course
About
Situated within the Santa Ana Riverbed, River View Golf Course is conveniently located just minutes from Disneyland, Anaheim, and Long Beach. The course's design intertwines with the river, providing challenging hazards on several holes. The narrow layout also features elevated greens that rarely offer a flat lie and are fiercely guarded by sand. Accuracy is a necessity throughout this golf course. Although it offers a fair amount of challenges, there is also ample room off the tees that makes the course more accessible for beginners. River View G.C. is also popular for its practice facilities, which include a driving range with targets and the county's largest putting course. While the other facilities may be modest, River View offers an affordable game that is one of Orange County's best values.

Don’t bring 5 people
Had a company outing and had called ahead of time to make sure we could do 5 people.
They told us yes, but to book two slots a 3 and a 2. Upon arrival it was a different story.
People had booked up the open slots and even they were fine playing as a 3 allowing the 5 of us to play as our own party as they were all individuals.
But NO, the Marshall made it the biggest deal and constantly kept hovering round the course to make sure we stayed in our group, even though, we were slower playing as a 3 and a 2. They party behind us were held back, and from the Marshall constantly showing up to check on us, it slowed us down even more.
Pretty ridiculous, and wouldn’t recommend to anyone with a larger party.
Course is average, and could be better taken care off.
Won’t be back.
Pure greens
Great and fun layout. Lot of risk reward holes. Fairways could use a little work but might have the best greens in the area. Great bang for your buck!
Great for the price
Very nice clubhouse lady. A little slow 4:35 to play 18 and tee time was pushed 25 minutes. So 5 hour round. A little wet with the rain the day before, but overall fun course. Course dictates shot distances off the tee sometimes. Greens were great! Fairway spotty but lift, clean, and play made it doable. Overall fun day!
Great experience
The course played well and was a great value. It had some challenging holes and was well kept. I’ll definitely play there again.
Sandy Fairways
The layout was very confusing. Flags were ticked away behind trees and hills - hole 8 was probably the best hole on the course and resembled a traditional fairway with the flag in a linear distance . Other than that, your crisscrossing fairways that are bombarded with sand and a river that is more sand than anything else
Fairways are a must!
What makes this course difficult are the tight fairways. If you miss them more than likely you’ll be in the river bed that runs through the entire course. It’s usually dry so you can hit out of it, but it is virtually impossible to get your club on the ball. The real problem is the fairways are hard and have very little grass on them. That’s the rub. No reward for a good fairway shot.
Great greens
The greens are in great shape, but the rest of the course is rough. The layout is very weird. It only has about four par fours. The whole course crosses back and forth over the river so it's a lot of up and down with elevated greens. We walked and and that was a mistake.
Depends on what you value
If you want to be safe for COVID, definitely not the place for you. Around the practice green, driving range, club house, not a mask to be seen. And this is with about 30-40 people. Some guy wasn't even wearing shoes on the green. (not COVID related, but still... it's a golf course).
The course itself is fine. Very hilly. Greens were better condition than I was expecting for the price point. A lot of the holes are different from other courses in the area (probably having to do with the runoff sand river thing in the middle of the course) but becomes repetitive through the round.
Short course, for those who don't hit a long ball. I think I pulled my driver on 3-4 holes. Hit the green in 2 on 2 of the Par5's playing from the blues.
One thing that really got us though was on the back 9 there's a steep cart path with sand all over it - makes it very slick. We were coming down as another group was coming up and while trying to avoid one another, the sand made all of our carts slide to the point where one flipped over and injured one of our players (cart landed on him, cut him up pretty good). When brought up to the course they responded with "thanks for letting us know". About as much care for their customers as they do for COVID. (no, we weren't drinking).
Will I go back? No. Is it worth playing? Maybe, if you want to shake it up a bit or you live very close. Price point is fair for the quality of play, just don't expect yourself to be blown away. No hidden gem here.
Nice Greens is the best I can say
Staff was great!
Desk staff, starter, and cart person did a great job, friendly, approachable and helpful.
The weather was chilly to eventually nice to a little overcast..
Check in and parking was easy. People were following Covid safety practices which was good..
The course...
The greens are in good shape
The practice putting greens were fun, they put an 18 hold putting course together and it helped in keeping busy.
Fairways were terrible. no grass under the ball when you were in the fairway, it was paper thin every where.
Cart paths put you in the line of incoming golf balls from other holes, so you had to be on the watch constantly.
Also the greens were so close to the next tee you really had to watch the group behind you because even it it hit the green, there was good chance it would come your way. We got hit on 3 times, and none of those times were from the group behind us.
They need better fences and maybe bells or lights to tell the groups around you that the green is clear..
Fun for the price!
W come here alot, most of the golfers and all of the staff are friendly. A great place to start golfing, just use your foot wedge to get out of the samd/river running through the course .
