The Club at Savannah Harbor

This layout is exceptional. The layout consists of great par 5’s, two of which are reachable in 2 and two true 3 shooters (#7 measures 665 yds with a massive forced carry off the tee). There are some great short par 4’s that reward strategy and placement. This course has not been ruined by residential development and is routed through the marshy wetlands that are so unique in this area of the country. The course is “linksy” and exposed to the wind. The staff was great and accommodating. The practice facilities are top notch and up to date. This was a surprisingly great experience.

This was the first time playing the course. They had punched the greens last week, but the greens ran really well. Really enjoyed the golf course. Good mix of easy and hard holes. Would highly recommend playing this course. It will be in my rotation each time I'm in the area.

Played the course about a year and half ago and based on the condition at that time never returned. Saw that there was a change in ownership and read things were on the up swing so I gave it a chance. The course was a 100% better than the previous experience. The course is headed in the right direction and I hope the trend continues.

Plays like a resort course should, fairways are big as are the greens. Very playable and the scenery is nice.

Much better course than I usually play. Only negative was the speed of the greens. Everything else was superb. Played in the afternoon and got a great deal on Golf Now. For 65 bucks on a course like this you can't go wrong.

Got this tee time as part of a hot deal and it rained on us bad on Wednesday, the clubhouse went out of their way and offered us a rain check to come back so that was great hospitality.

Was able to get out to play this course on Friday. Conditions were wet with it having stormed heavily the night before but that was really only affecting the fairways. Playing their for the first time and playing in SC for the first time I was happy to see the greens were not punched like other courses in the area. I liked the layout of the course for the most part, my favorite hole was the straight away par 5 into the Harbor called "Waving Girl".

The people inside the clubhouse were very nice, the cart girl came around often, the bag boys were nice and talked to us after the round. Would go back in the future if I made another trip to SC.

For what is supposed to be an upper-tier course run by Troon Golf that has hosted Champions tour events in the past, it is in fair to poor shape. Fairway grass is thin, patches of crabgrass scattered about, grass on the greens is thin and inconsistent. Bunkers are poor with some having so little sand that concrete support beneath is exposed. Tee boxes are pretty beat up. They need to spend money and time on course conditions to bring it up to the level it deserves.

I was able to play the resort course twice while visiting Savannah for the first time. First, the location was perfect. Directly across the river from the downtown historic district, the hotel was merely a few minutes from the many outstanding restaurants and bars that "haunt" this southern classic city. By far my favorite spot in Georgia. Uber or taxis worked well too.

Second, the course was right out in front of you. There was a great mix of long holes (eg. 599 Par 5 7th playing into the wind) and short (eg. the 14th at 292.) The par 3's are all good, but not horribly difficult. The fairways were wide and in good shape---not much rough on the course.

And the greens....

...the green on 11 was huge. Then the green on 12 seemed even bigger. On 12 you could easily have a 50-60 yard putt. The only greens I recall being bigger are some of the double greens at St. Andrews. The greens are new and kind of grainy. Since I play primarily on bent greens, the greens eventually got in my head and though I started out putting well, by the end of the second round I was a mess. But that is on me--not the course. But because the greens were new, they didn't hold many shots. Unfortunately, the collars in front of the greens were soft so if you tried to bounce one on you often came up short---which often beat the alternative of being over the green.

To sum up, the course is well worth the time and money to play. The set up is perfect for a buddies trip or for couples, especially with the city being so nearby. I highly recommend if you get the chance to try it out!

Great shape with a lot of water but not much of in play. The holes that are hard are very hard but there’s not that many of them. Fair test and great people and the off course amenities are unreal

I enjoyed everything about the course. The greens were slower than expected but I think it made the course more playable for me since it was my firdt time playing this course. I loved the conditions, the layout and the beautiful views. It felt like you eere miles asay from everything but you were just across the river from the heaart of the city. I didnt score well but thst gives me a reason to come back and play agan.

The course was in good condition and very playable.

The pace was a little slow because there was of group of six or more golfers two holes ahead slowing the pace of play down.

The ranger should have divided the group to allow for faster play; however, I enjoyed the course and the lay out.

Played mid-afternoon not crowded so pace of play was good. Course was in good condition but a little worn around the edges. Fairway Length and greens were challenging and enjoyable. We would play it again. Only down side - the morning pro shop staff was not very welcoming.

Course was in good shape, first time back since they revamped the greens. Greens were in good shape, a little on the slow side. One surprise (not a good one), hit into greenside bunker on #10 about 10" under the lip, hit out but thought I hit a good sized rock, turned out to be a layer of concrete just under the sand, it extends about a foot or so into the bunker. Experienced the same on #15. Lucky I didn't sustain an injury, they really should inform players of this.

The layout and the condition was excellent. The staff and the restaurant staff were fantastic!
