The Club at Savannah Harbor
About
The Club at Savannah Harbor is steeped in Southern charm, offering dramatic views that span from the surrounding wetlands of the Back River to Savannah's famous Historic District. Sam Snead and Bob Cupp designed the golf course. Their ultimate goal was to bring to life the philosophy of "risk and reward." For example, a well executed shot placed near a hazard is rewarded with less club to the green or a better approach angle, or even both. The putting surfaces have gentle transitions to different pin locations, making them more traditional than modern. The designers incorporated another classic design element, the greens have subtle roll-offs or collars that fall away, a feature of golf courses from the 1930s and 40s. Golfers can also use the club's large, duel-ended practice facility.

Excellent course
The golf course is top notch. Excellent clubhouse. We were greeted by a friendly staff. The actual course was in excellent condition. Greens were running a little fast that day which made it a bit more difficult. The only negative is that the course is close marshy areas which means the mosquitoes are out. Highly recommend this course for any level of golfer
course descripfion.
Really nice course and a great value. Greens are huge and true. Course is long and the greens are well protected by bunkers.
Savannah Harbor a true Troon
The fairways were like carpet! The Greens best I have played all year. The course was simply amazing this time around except for a few mosquitos!
If you are not a member of the Troon Club, join up. This was our first time to join and we should have done that years ago!
The course is tough but I must have done something right as I still had the same ball I started with, close call a few times and a few penalties to add to the score but it was a great challenge!
Course is challenging and a lot of fun to play.
This facility is well run, staff is friendly and professional, the driving range and practice green were very nice, we started on time, played in four hours and the course was in great shape. Next time I'm in Savannah I'll go back without a doubt.
Excellent Resort Course
Great track, wonderful staff! Use Golf Now and get a hot tee time if you can; pricey, but worth it.
Hot and wide open
Fairly average, course in fair condition, friendly staff, course devoid of trees and wide open. Few holes are very scenic, boring course to play on. Food mediocre.
You have to play this one
This is a must play if you're in the Savannah area. Course conditions were perfect. Fast greens, immaculate fairways, staff could not have been nicer.
Course all to myself
Wife and I vacationed in Savannah, and this looked like the nicest course in the area. It did not disappoint. 4 sets of tees, and I chose the one-ups. Played at just under 6,700 yards. Very fair course, with good shots rewarded and bad shots not so much. It was pleasing to my eye with large greens and narrow fairways. The greens were Bermuda Grass and we're in pristine condition. If you can stand the humidity, I suggest playing in August and you'll find a gem! Just keep hydrated.
Fantastic facility, great conditions, great value
Was the first out on a Friday as a single. Played in 2 hrs. Was extremely impressed with every bit of this facility, from the clubhouse, locker rooms, staff, pro shop, course and GPS. It is a first class club in every way. Only complaint (not the club's fault) is that being right on the river and late August, it was extremely humid and the no-see-ums and mosquitos were insane. But a little bug spray helps and the auramist mister on the carts is cool. Everyone was great and for $80 on golfnow it was a tremendous value. Best bermuda greens I've played maybe ever. Perfect. Great views of the bridges and the marsh on several holes. Fidler craps playing on a couple of the greens.
Savannah Heat
This course is a real challenge, especially if you've never seen it and if you're used to playing in mild climate areas. Savannah's heat and humidity in August combined with wet conditions from recent rains and relentless mosquitoes in attack mode made the golf focus difficult. Even with these distractions, though, the course itself was in very good condition and was a fun and challenging track. Accuracy off the tee was a must as the combination of thick rough and an abundance of bunkers made it impossible to score if you strayed from the fairways.
must play in Savannah
Bad: Arrived an hour early to work out swing on the range. Starter notified us that due to heavy rains it was underwater and thus, closed. Fortunately this was the only bad part of our day at the club at Savannah Harbor.
Good: Starter was great. He let us off 20 minutes early and we were able to play as a twosome. Course was in great shape even though there was lots of evidence of heavy rain and large puddles of water between holes. tee boxes, fairways, and greens had no standing water and very few wet spots, great drainage system I assume. Not a whole lot of trouble off tee, so blew a few drives offline and was able to find and have an open recovery.
Great course, Highly Recommended, we had a top notch time and will definitely do it again when visiting Savannah.
This course has great features.
Beautiful golf course. Play where the pro's play. (The old guys)!
Thursday in Savannah
Great course
Enjoyed our round
Would certainly play again soon
Club at Savannah Harbor
Couse was in great shape. Greens rolled with good pace and very smooth. Fairways were in great shape and rough was thick.
Mosquitos
Convenient location. Very nice course in very good condition. Mosquitos are seriously bad. Do not play without spray. We had it on and were still eaten alive . Staff laughs about it and agrees"yep, they're pretty bad".
A great day on the links!
We went out early and had a great time. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, and the gators we saw were small and sleepy - all good. This was a last minute idea, so we had to rent clubs, which here in excellent condition and better than those I use at home. Would do it again in heartbeat. Very well worth the modest cost.
Slow play!
Only 20 people on course. Followed a twosome with no golf etiquette it took 5 hours! No ranger. Sad and frustrating, it was a beautiful course.
Must Play While in Savannah
A great layout that about anyone can play well if they choose the right tees. The views of Savannah and the bridge from the course are spectacular. Even with a recent aeration, it was fantastic to play. I'm from Nebraska and grew up playing courses with bent grass, bluegrass, fescue, etc... It's really great to play a 100% Bermuda grass course. I played really early in the day and was done in 2:45 with a playing partner.
As I said, pick the right tees and you'll have fun. I'm a 5 index but played with a guy who plays maybe five times a year, so we played the Silver tees (69.5/125). I was rewarded with good drives, punished fairly for bad ones. I don't think I would have played much differently from the Gold tees, but the Black tees would have are my lunch! Everything on the course is out in front of you for the most part. A few of the par 5s were doglegs where I went through the fairway, but I probably should have been back a box.
The staff and servo ice are too notch, just as joyous expect from a Troon property. I drove away really glad I decided to play there. I'll make a point of playing there again if I'm ever back.
Great golf experience
we had to play the back nine twice because of airating the front nine greens. The greens were fairly fast, balls stuck in place, fairways beautiful. Course staff are very professional and polite. This is always a GREAT round of golf at Savannah Harbor
Great club
Playing Savannah Harbor was well worth the price . the course is in excellent condition and the staff was very accomodating. Cannot wait to play it again.
