First time at BR West
First time playing BR West... played BR East several times. Course was in good condition, fairways were groomed and greens were true... even with drought conditions. Rough was a little tall, but probably to keep the moisture in. Staff was okay (as usual). Pace of play was.good.for Saturday afternoon... tee'd off at 232pm, in a foursome, and finished at 600pm. Shot my best score of 83! Take advantage of GolfNow deals for best pricing and try the "member's" West Course at Blue Rock Springs.
Good to see you again
It's been about 10 years since I played here and at that time I was not overly impressed with the staff or the course condistions. For years I would drive past the course noticing slight improvements, the driving range, which I frequent has improved as well so I decided to give Blue Rock Springs (West)another try.
When I entered the pro shop I was made to feel welcome and part of the club. I was given a choice to head straight out or wait for my tee time. I choose to hit a small bucket before going out. After the bucket I checked back in and was sent out a little early.
The course is in great shape. The tee boxes are lush and soft, the fairways are well groomed, and the greens are well maintained. The pace of play was very good for a Saturday afternoon; 3.5 hours for 18 holes! My only complained goes to the golfers who are not fixing their ball marks on the green.
I wiould recommend Blue Rock Spring West to any golfer at any skill level. Enjoy your round
Interesting and fun course
Played the West course for the first time. Normally play the East course. The West course is fun and different enough hole to hole to make it enjoyable. Even straying to the right or left on most fairways is salvageable. The wind is a factor on many holes. greens are small but make it challenging to be accurate. Greens tend to be hard and slick. All in all had a fun and enjoyable round. Food and drinks at the 19th hole is priced very reasonably and taste good too!
Very nice public course
Always enjoy playing this course. Went on at twilight, started on the 10th and finished my nine well before dark.
Bule Rock West Play
The Blue Rock course is a nice course. The layout is friendly for most of the course. If you shoot an errant shot you'll survive. The fairways were in good condition but the traps could use a little more sand. Some of the tee boxes could be leveled but for the most part were good.
Nice Course, a bit slow to navigate
Some signage issues exist (but what course doesn't have such?), but for the most part, this is a fair course. I enjoyed playing - first time for a while - on this slightly windy day. The course is anything but level as each hole slopes up or down. Bad shots can make you pay as you can have to walk some rather steep terrain in trying to locate your ball. The thick rough and other vegetation can sometimes cause ball loss even when you "think" you know where it went. Your best bet is to keep your ball on the fairway. As it was, I was proud of myself for only losing a couple of balls. Maybe if I was a better golfer, it wouldn't be an issue (duh!!).
All in all, though, the course was fine and the marshall staff was friendly and helpful (one helped me find my ball after an errant shot). I intend to return and try the course again during the season. I recommend it.
west course
Nice course.. wish they would of advertised that holes were punched
Fivesome allowed
Noticed that a fivesome was teeing off in front of us foursome. Called clubhouse and was told that it was allowed. Ok. Noticed on the sixth tee that there was a sixsome on the 8th fairway. Other than that this is a fine course:
First time in Blue Rock
This is a nice course that I have heard ever since I moved to the Bay Area in the 90s. I regret I did not make an effort to play these courses sooner. Green is well kept and the course is interesting with a variety of angles and levels. My friend complained about the parking lot location that is far from the club house: 1/4 mile away. I will return soon.
Great Value
I love this course and on a beautiful Sunday morning, you can't beat it. I feel like people aren't playing this course enough. It is being thrown into my regular rotation for sure.
local gem
pro shop staff very cordial and even got us started on first hole 1/2 hour early!!
Classic, beautiful, and challenging
Love this course, many long fairways with beautiful trees. In great condition after a few days of heavy rain, great staff, great food, great golf.
Fun Round of Golf
The course has a lot of short holes but they are challenging. Fairways are in good condition with trees and hills along the sides. Fairways also have plenty of spots that leave the ball below and above your feet which increases the difficulty of the shot.
This course offers a tee boxes hi above with great views.
Nice Muni course
It was nice to try a new course. Blue Rock is similar to our Muni course in Santa Rosa. Too bad we have a drought, as I bet it would be a beautiful course if they were able to water.
Blue Rock West Course
Blue Rock West is a good place to play although for first timers, the layout was confusing and direction signs were lacking, fortunately we paired up with people who had played there before. The course is in fairly good shape especially with the drought. It plays longer than it's advertised length. There is a nice combination of hills, water hazards, dog legs, open tree lined fairways, so playing mid fairway is a must. The greens were in very good condition and are large and undulating, challenging even good golfers. For the price it was a great value. We will definitely play there again. The staff, was exceptionally friendly and even allowed us to start before our tee time. The snack bar staff was friendly and the grilled polish sausage sandwiches were tasty. The teo gentlemen er paired up with were polite, patient and helpful, overall a great day of golf .
Great value
Course is a great value if book on Golf now. Pace of play was a little slow but course has some fun holes and should play well for most skill levels.
slow play
waited for group of 5 on every hole, typical for a weekend, but seriously, a GROUP OF FIVE!
A great time out.
One of my favorite places to play. Course suits my game and it's great weather. Both courses are great. Great deal for the money. Love the courses. West course is fantastic. Highly recommend. Peace and love.
Darrin
A nice little municipal course
The course is fun to play with a lot of varied terrain and wind conditions .The pace of play is good .The greens are nice and fair .
The fairways are wide but you don't get a lot of roll if you hit in the short grass. We
Have played here a number of times and
Still really enjoy it.
