Not Like It Used To Br
I have played this course many times over 20 years.
What was World Class is now more like the Ghetto
Traps have been allowed to grow over with vegetation.
Carts paths are showing their age. Erosion has also exposed many tree roots. Took a buddy there to impress. Oops
In terrible shape
I've played this course several times in the past and was always a pleasure to play there. This time however it was a lot different. These people have a lot inventor of charging $80 to play on this course. The bunkers are unplayable, The greens are nothing but a mass of unrepaired ballmarks. Fairways we're nothing to write home about either. Don't think I'll be visiting this course anymore.
Steve’s review
Slow pace for a Tuesday but they keep the course in good shape. Well worth the money
Not Terrible
Bunkers were clearly going under some construction. The fairways in late April were not yet grown in very well. Some greens were in good shape. Yes box’s will need some love this season as well.
Good course
Good course. Wide open. Hate having to pay full price when bunkers were freshly dumped sand full of mounds, no beverage cart running and grill not open for lunch. Green’s could use some repairs on most of the holes.
Course conditions were poor
The Frog was once a pristine golf course and one of my favorite courses in the area. The course was in really poor condition and the green fees were way to high for a course in this condition.
Great layout not great condition
Course layout is very good….course condition not so great. Has much potential if they put in the time and money to get it there
Winter hangover
This course has a nice layout but needs much work. Greens had been aerated without enough sand applied. Almost unplayable. Minimal grass on fairways and bunkers were not maintained.
Possible Hidden Jewel
I've played this course for years and have come to love it, and I consider it one of my favorite tracks. There were many things that kept me away but with the new management and his welcoming spirit, I will play this course more often. They're actively working on improving the greens, bunker, traps, and overall views and vistas. Once the makeover is complete, this will be a top ten in the metro.
Fall from Grace
Wow... this place USED to be a wonderful destination - now the bunkers are a complete MESS, the greens were just punched and coming back and the fairways were ok... I would think that at this time of year the course should be in playable conditions... but it was not - especially NOT for the price.
This is a course with great potential. It is obviously under financial stress. The bunkers were unplayable due to neglect and were washed out down to the liners. The fairways showed neglect as well., The greens were recovering from a punch from the fall but also showed signs of habitual bald spots not caused by the punch. I wish I'd played this course 10-15 years ago when it was in better condition.
Expected conditions for this time of year
Typical late winter / early spring course conditions for Georgia. The green complexes are looking much better than they did last time I played even though they were fairly recently punched and sanded.
Pretty Sad
I was disappointed to see how this course has been neglected, I can’t imagine ever coming back to play it again.
Good Course, Needs Time
First time playing The Frog after hearing great reviews. Conditions weren't as great as I expected, but I was able to talk to the new management. They told me that they just purchased the property 2 months ago, and their plans of restoring the course is underway. Apparently, this new management company purchases distressed properties and restores them to their potential. I assume this will come at a higher green fee when it's all said and done.
If you don't mind some patchy greens, poor bunkers, and preferred lies in the fairway, try out The Frog at a discount now. This course has potential and I have no doubt that the new management company will restore this course.
