From behind the green on the short par-4 14th Photo submitted by BrandonWebb on 01/03/2017
Terrible condition.
Bunkers and greens disgraceful.
Georgian has Class
New Player, The Georgian was a great experience. My son and I had a great time. Good pace of play, plenty of time to play each hole. Very nice club house overlooking the 18th hole. I like it and will bring friends.
This course is fun to play
Still one of my favorite courses in the area. Challenging holes but you can score here. The uphill par 4 9th hole isn't long but the approach shot is key. Don't come up short or you will roll all the way down the hill. Staff is friendly.
The perfect layout but bad conditiins
I played this course about 20 ears ago and remember it being an excellent golf course. The layout did not disappoint again, absolutely wonderful and how a golf course should be. Unfortunately they must be losing money. Because the course was in bad shape. Bunkers were full of weeds, greens had crab grass all over them,
Shame that such a wonderful course has gone down hill.
No one was out there, played through two groups and finished the round in two and half hours.
Hopefully, they can start making money to put back into the course.
The attached picture is the signature frog shaped bunker.
Great course bad greens
The course was in good shape but the greens were terrible. Weeds and holes everywhere.
Needs some loving care
The course layout was fine and fair, but many areas need attention. The practice green and several of the greens on the course were severely impacted with weeds and extremely bumpy. The bunkers had not been raked or groomed and many of the sides of the bunkers were in disrepair. Chunks of carpet/bunker lining were apparent in many of them. The tee boxes were also less than attractive with serious weed growth. This course has tremendous potential, but it just needs proper maintenance and turf management.
Course in much better shape
The Frog was in much better shape than last month. They have been doing maintenance on the greens and sand traps. The greens need some more work but they are moving in the right direction. The staff in the shop is always friendly.
The Greens are Bad
Love this course layout but they should have a notice that the greens took a hit this year. Very rough.
Crabgrass central
Fairways are amazing and the layout is one of my favorite public tracks in Atlanta. Of course it it September so expectations of greens need to be realistic. The frog continues to have re-occurring trouble with crabgrass infestations on their greens making putting almost impossible. Furthermore tons of divots and even chunks pulled out of the green, worst shape I have seen the frog in over last 2 years. As conditions drop your prices should as well/ not a $65-$95 course right now. More like $30-$45.
If you can play for the hot deal go for it !!
If you want to pay full price for a Saturday morning you will be disappointed
Used to be nice
What a disappointment!!! It’s actually really sad how far down this course has gone. The layout is absolutely beautiful.
With that said, the course conditions are absolute garbage other than fairways.
I played this course multiple times 3-5 years ago and booked a time with my son. Good Lord!!! This course is nothing like the course I played a couple years ago. Every bunker was completely washed out….weeds growing everywhere. The greens were recently aerated but that wasn’t the only problem. The amount of weeds and other grasses on the greens made the course unputtable. I legit can’t figure out why they would charge $55 for this course. It’s a dog pasture on an amazing layout.
You can tell they ran out of money. They dont spray, cut greens, or do any maintenance on this course. I wouldn’t pay $20 for an 18 hole round here.
Needs some TLC
This was my first time playing The Frog. It is a bit of a drive from most spots in metro-ATL and the course is tucked away down some roads through the woods (kinda nice actually). You can tell the place has great bones and the layout was really enjoyable from the gold tees (around 6600 yds I think). The only downside was horrible maintenance on the greens & bunkers. Most greens were covered in sand and small crabgrass. Some bunkers were essentially ruined and unplayable. They are building new homes and I assume the course will increase spending as more players come out. If this course was even in B+ condition it would be a gem. I’ll be back when the greens are better.
Review of the Frog
Greens had weeds and crabgrass, tee boxes were full of weeds and crabgrass also. Bunkers look to be completely neglected. The Frog used to be a very nice course but now it is more like a poorly maintained municipal course. But they are still charging a premium price. It’s sad to see how it is deteriorating. I wouldn’t recommend it, especially at their regular prices.
Beautiful terrain.
All in all it’s a good course. The greens have some serious issues and the sand traps look as though they have been neglected for years. I’m not sure how the memberships board decides how to spend their money but it’s clearly not on those two items. They charge a premium rate so it’s inexcusable to neglect those item on a “club” course.
