From behind the green on the short par-4 14th Photo submitted by BrandonWebb on 01/03/2017
It's been many months
Alway love this course. Greens were just right for 90°. Bunkers have been worked on but were in consistent. Fairways were firm and produced on a couple of C+ lies. Pace of play was 4:15 which is good for a crowded holiday. I'll be back
Great Course
The course was challenging and not very forgiving. That be said, I love the layout. The only negative is that the golf carts had no brakes.
Great course well managed!!
Enjoyed a great round of golf at a nice pace!! Not rushed
Worth the drive, usually.
I've always enjoyed playing the Frog. It's a drive to get there and then you're really in the middle of nowhere. Most of the time it's in great shape. Their bunkers get a little sparse at times so make your "house rules' before you get started. I chose to stay out of them this past round and made $$$ off my buddy Dan! Oh, yeah!
Too Bad
First played here shortly after it opened and several times since.. Great layout, but unfortunately the conditions have deteriorated. Many traps actually have the plastic lining coming through. Greens are fair at best. Conditions are basically the same as a muni course. Too bad, because it could be outstanding, but not worth the 45 minute drive under current conditions
Disappointed return
I had not played the course in the last 3 years and was extremely disappointed with what I found. The Frog has always been one of my favorite courses in the area because of the design and condition - one of the few courses with bent grass greens. The course I played did not resemble the course of old as either or both management and the superintendent have just stopped working the course. First, the bunkers had not been groomed with many of them having weeds and grass growing in them. For example, holes 14 and 15 have fairway bankers running down the right side of the hole and now about all you can see in the bunkers is vegetation. Also, the once pristine greens have weeds growing in them and the edges are no longer clean with Bermuda grass growing into the greens. I hope Troon Golf will begin to pay attention to this course and bring it back to its former glory.
First time
I enjoyed this course, wide open fairways, friendly staff. They had just ariated the greens and they were very sandy. Still enjoyed our round, pace of play was great, even though we were behind 1 foursome and another twosome, we had a great pace of play. I will be back once the greens have grown back in.
Not great value price
Greens had plenty of weeds and unfixed ball marks
The sand in traps was thin with weeds and fabric coming up from bottom
Over priced in my opinion
Could be such a great place with some funding
I came back to play The Frog after about 15-18 years away. I remembered it being such a great course. Well, it's still an amazing layout but unfortunately the course is in shambles. Weeds/crabgrass have inundated some of the greens. The bunkers havent been raked or maintained in some time and are being overrun with grass and weeds and some parts of the course looked like they hadn't been mown in weeks. For the most part, the fairways and bent greens are very playable and in decent shape but the course is very rough around the edges. My guess is they just don't have enough money to properly maintain the course. If they can get the funding this would again be worth the drive. For now, if you live close and get a deal, play it. If youre driving from Alpharetta like me, you may want to consider other options.
What happened?!?
I used to treat myself to a round at this course. Hadn’t played here in a year or so, man, the greens used to be slick and true now they are spongy and have weeds. Bunkers have weeds growing in them, need more sand. This is a Fazio course!! Just truly shocked at the condition.
This course has gone Downhill
This course used to be one of the nicer courses in the metro Atlanta area. It used to be immaculate. It has been a few years since I’ve played there, but I decided to make the drive to play there this past weekend. I noticed quickly that this course has gone down hill with their maintenance. The bunkers are atrocious. The liner of the bunker is showing in many places. There are weeds and plants and grass growing in the bunkers throughout. The greens have goose grass growing in them. There are weeds around the Teebox and were some bare spots as well. It is nothing like what it used to be. It is definitely not worth the money or the drive anymore. It’s quite sad as it was a very good course. The layout remains challenging. The fairways are in pretty good shape.
It was so bad that I took some pictures to upload onto Golfnow. But the golf now app is malfunctioning and not allowing me to upload them.
Gone downhill
Haven’t played it in about four years, used to be such a great track .... The bunker condition is laughable , greens are riddled with weeds and slow....Used to be one of the best maintained courses in the area.
Great layout
Great track. Played Sunday morning in 4 hours. Bunkers need work but was otherwise in great shape.
Will definitely return.
Rainy round
It rained the whole front 9 but the course was in great shape. Had a great time and played well on the back 9.
Really like The Frog...wish it's members did
Great course layout. Provides a lot of risk/reward. Placement in the fairways and the greens are key to scoring well.
Fairways are in great shape. Bunkers are okay and the greens were a little hairy, but they rolled true. (little slow) Probably getting to be that time of year for a green punch.
Tee boxes are kid of thin as others have mentioned, but the weather here has provided challenges I'm sure.
*Only reason for 4 stars* What surprises me is that the members (or those who play regular) do not repair divots on the greens! Maybe The Frog should add $1 to green fees and give every player a divot tool when they play? Play a video on the golf cart on "how to repair divots"? Still, it won't fix lazy...
All this said, I still highly recommend The Frog. You will not be disappointed. Beautiful course. Great layout.
Really Nice!
It was crowded, but everyone was really nice, helpful and accommodating!! Definitely recommend this place!!
