From behind the green on the short par-4 14th Photo submitted by BrandonWebb on 01/03/2017
Late afternoon
Course was in good shape and the pace of play was very slow until we made the turn then things started to speed up as people left.
Poor conditions for price
Waited 20 minutes last tee time for cart. Wasn’t informed that the greens were aerated. Every bunker full of weeds. Some bunkers with huge sand piles in them. Paid 70$ for a twilight round.
Meh…
Tee boxes were in bad shape. Greens were still punched from over a month ago. Layout is good but overall it wasn’t anything to write home about. Wont make the trip from Atlanta again.
Good Friday Golf
Course was really backed up and slow on the front but the later it got the more it started moving. Almost 4 hours for 2 players.
Great Conditions
I've always enjoyed playing the Frog. The staff is friendly and the course layout is superb! Right now it's in great shape.
Can’t Wait
Played about 3-4 days after HEAVY rains. And the course had some soggy spots but so much less than I was expecting. I can’t wait to see the course under its best conditions. It was great!
Exhausted ROUND
It was the most disappointing and exhausting round I have ever played in my LIFE and I have been pretending to play golf for 60 years. See the reasons listed next
1. The course is hard enough without having ALL holes being cart path only with the extreme hilly landscape. Only maybe 4 or 5 holes needed to be cart path only. All of my threesome almost passed out as we finished play
2. The FROG apparently does not want SENIOR(over 80) golfers to play. 340 and more yards for par fours is unrealistic to record a par or even a bogey. It is not ENJOYABLE shooting over 100 and that was our highest score being double bogey to speed up play. If we had played all holes out, we would have scored over 150. At home our par fours are 300 or less yards allowing us a chance to make a par and maybe one
birdie. Our average rounds are from 75-85. That is IMPOSSIBLE from the forward tees at the FROG.
I will give the course maintenance personnel credit for improving the playing conditions at the FROG. The last time we played 3-4 years ago - the course was in horrible shape with weeds growing in the sand traps and tee boxes being sand and the grass in the fairways being nonexistent
If the course will add some more realistic tee box distances for SENIORS - we will play the FROG again - otherwise we will NEVER BE BACK
Typical
Greens still haven’t shaken off the winter slumber but overall the course is in good shape for this time of the year
Improving
Greens were being aerated but the bunkers are coming along nicely
Good course for the cost
Enjoy playing the course. Friend playing here for the first time says we'll have to play the Frog again. Fairways in ok condition, but they could use some work. Will come back again if offered GolfNow value price. I'd say this is a good $30ish course but wouldn't want to play more.
Great golf course
If ever I go back to Atlanta I will 100% play The Frog again. The layout was superb and it was so quiet and still. The greens had recently been punched but they were still playable. All in all a great course and one that I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.
The Georgian “The Frog” is a premiere golf course that I’ve played dozens of times and has always been know for immaculate conditions. I played last Friday and although I know winter months are always tough on a course I was truly sad and shock to see a course I love and played so much on look in such bad shape. All the fairway and green side bunkers had no sand and lots of weeds green side not tented to. Tee boxes were okay shape but the course always use to overseer them with rye in the winter and this wasn’t the case. The cost to play this course was extremely high and over priced for very disappointing conditions and I hate to see this play go downhill!
