Peacock Gap Golf Club
About
Peacock Gap Golf Club extends along the shores of San Pablo Bay, but it sits inland enough to avoid the fogginess of the coast and enjoy consistently sunny weather throughout the year. The course's layout has undergone many renovations over the years that have brought it to its current playability, including a new drainage system, new tee boxes, a reshaping of five of the greens, and relocation of bunkers. The golf course kept the classic features of its original layout though, such as the inviting fairways that still provide a challenge and the tricky greens that deceptively extend past where the player thinks they end. In addition to the course, Peacock Gap has also improved their practice facilities over the years. There is an all-grass driving range, two large practice greens, and a chipping green.

Online deal at Peacock Gap
I was thrilled to see a discounted rate at Peacock Gap Golf Course because I love it's layout. It's a tradition William Bell design, challenging but fair. The course is playing firm and fast because Marin County mandated a 40% water reduction of water used on the golf course due to drought conservation efforts. All in all though it was still a fun day
Fairways are now an abomination
I don't think the fairways were ever great in anyone's opinion, but at least there was playable grass. It's never a good sign when I'm actually rooting for the ball to get into the rough because that's the only playable grass on the entire course. I think they're only watering the greens at this point. This may be a victim of the water shortages, but the reality is: this course is nearly unplayable at this point. Redo the fairways, and I MIGHT think of coming back eventually.
Great greens
The greens were the only good part of the course the general area was is terrible condition
peacock provides
A wonderful track close to everything.
over the last few years, peacock gap has invested a great deal in the upkeep of the course. All the bunkers have new sand. There are a lot of bunkers! greens were redone 4 years ago and are in great shape. Because of the drought, the fairways are very dry. This means big bounces and rolls and also bouncing wedges on "touch" shots. Very good pace of play.
water, water water
no recycled water available here evidently so fairways are pretty dry. Tees OK, Greens good. Still not quite the same experience as when playing earlier this year. Should I be unhappy about playing out brown scruff if I hit it onto the "rough"? Anyway, felt like course was not all it could be.
Great Value
Great layout in fair condition. Lot of brown or dry areas on the fairway due to drought. Greens are great and bunkers are soft. Staff is very friendly.
Average overall golf course
Average course in not the best condition!! Probably won’t be back!!
Peacock Gap GC playing experience
Course layout is pretty good and moderately challenging. Due to the drought, the course is very dry and could benefit from a lot of recycled water. The most annoying aspect of the course for those of us that use carts, is the GPS system that electronically restricts carts for being driven in areas that are near water, near greens but also unsigned protected areas. This system besides telling you to return to the pathway when you are already on the pathway, warns you you are in restricted areas, when you have not encroached on the those areas, and stops all forward progress electronically. You therefore spend an inordinate amount of time reversing until the system determines you have left the restricted area. In summary, except for environmentally protected areas which should be signposted, it it an entirely unnecessary system, not to mention extremely annoying and often inaccurate.
