West Pines Golf Club

Overall course layout on condition is good, but they have let the weeds around the creeks grow way too high and far from the creek itself. On average they were 6' to 8' high and growing out 8' to 10' from the creek. I've played this course several times before and it never been this high or deep.

It looks as if it would be an easy fix a grounds keeper with a weedeater would have easily solved the problem. Moved this course down from 4 1/2 stars to 3

Greens were soft and slow, but knot much they could do about it. Nice layout. Some holes you're forced to lay up off the tee. Smaller greens, so accuracy is needed with the irons. For being slow, the greens rolled very smooth (although previous players did not know how to fix ball marks). Fairways and tees is great shape. Overall good value.

The conditions were great and the course, as well. There was no ranger and in the end we had to wait 5-10 minutes for the last 5 holes and all because a group of golfers were playing from the blue tees when they were a bunch of hackers!

West Pines is a very scenic course. The course was in decent shape, but the bent grass greens are very pock marked. It appears very few of the player there are familiar with the concept of repairing ball marks. I fixed as many as I could, but coudn't get to them all. In addition, the bunkers need some work, the one I was in had no sand in the middle, it was all around the edges. They need to be groomed by the maintenance team, there is no way to move enough sand around with the rakes there,

Pace of play was very slow the first 14 holes, but picked up the last four. Still, it was almost five hours, too long in that kind of heat. If the course got some TLC from the players, it would be worth playing again.

Pace was slow but it was a Saturday. The clubhouse is not at the turn which takes getting used to, you'll have to rely on beverage cart which we did see about Avery 4-5 holes. For the rates that are charged I'd have to say it's a very good value.

Had not played this course in over ten years. This is a completely different course. A lot of money was put into this place and it shows. Good condition tee to green.

Tees, fairways and greens were in good shape. However if you were not 'down the middle', rough was overgrown, and traps were in poor conditions. It is ok for a quick round on a hot deal, but not worth full price.

I've played all over Atlanta and this course is the best value around. Nice greens, well kept fairways and tee boxes and a challenging layout. I've played courses twice as expensive that weren't as well maintained. I play at least once a week and always find my self playing here at least once a month. The staff is always friendly, plus the practice areas are nice and well maintained . Give this course a try, you will not regret it!

Golf is a very humbling game and I usually don't say much about another golfers swing. Here is the exception to the rule, arrive at hole 4 after pushing my six iron right and was greeted by a Charles Backley impersonation of a golf swing. Literally, guy on hole five I thought was his pre shot routine and literally had an C.B moment couldn't take a swing. Too that gentleman I do apologies for this review, playing partners allowed me to go through and although it was the ugliest I've seen (Him and C.B tie); yet the fellow looked to still be having a good time. Right to the review, course in good shape and greens are good.

Excellent course...enough said believe it or not...

Course I thought played well putts did not fall in but that's not the courses fault. This is one of my favorite golf courses to play. Staff always is friendly.

The course was easy to navigate and is a good course for beginners with wide fairways. The course was well maintained and the greens were in great shape. I would definitely play again as it made for an enjoyable afternoon.

Makes you think twice about pulling out the driver.

We had to play 1 - 9 twice because the back had maintenance and we was not told until we got to the course, that was disappointing, also 1 - 9 greens had aeration and a lot of sand.

This is a really nice course I've played it before when it wasn't under maintenance, but right now it's under maintenance and I would not recommend playing at this time, give it a few weeks.

I strongly recommend this course to play. We had a light rain when we played and it was cart path only. The Greens were still fast and brought a whole new challenge of the round. Long par 5's uphill was a joy and will bring the better golfers in your group back to you with the challenges getting to the green. I would definetly play this couse again and recommend it to any golfer who wants to test his skills.

Even though they had a tournament goin on the Marshall tried to help me play through where he could without messing up the tournament play. The course was in good condition. Grenada were really fast. Everyone was courteous under even though they were real busy. Will go back again

This course is a hidden gem. I used to live in Norcross and drove here and I do the same now that I'm in Smyrna. I pass many places to come here. The practice area is well kept and has a great rolling practice green. The city has really invested some time and money into this public course. I play everywhere and have come to love West Pines. All of my friends frequent here as well. It is a challenging course so anyone complaining is probably not very good. The greens roll true. Fairways are nice and lush. Tee boxes in good shape. You will not be disappointed in West Pines. It is the best public course in the a 50-Mile radius of Atlanta. It even competes with some private course I play. Good job West pines and staff.

Greens were great but did not make up for the almost 6 hour round.
