About
Royal Lakes Golf & Country Club is situated in the heart of South Hall County. The course sprawls across 150 acres of rolling countryside with natural wetlands comprising 19 of those acres. The golf course has a traditional Scottish links design that also incorporates a few mountain holes. It's a layout that will always keep you guessing. It may not be the most formidable golf course in the area, but it shouldn't be underestimated either. The course strikes a good balance between being forgiving enough for high handicappers and challenging enough for more advanced players. The par 3s are tough and the diverse par 4s come in all shapes and sizes. Royal Lakes Golf & C.C. is a shot maker's layout that requires accuracy and thoughtful strategy. The most memorable hole on the golf course is the par-5 11th, which features an intimidating island green.

Always Great
Great course layout and always in excellent shape. Staff is friendly and welcoming. Can't beat the amenities. My group plays here 4 to 5 times per year - never a disappointing round. All skill levels will be challenged but good scores are possible.

Beautiful challenging golf course
I have not been here for sometime, but it is still as beautiful as I remember… My partner and I had a fantastic day playing this beautiful golf course… I am really looking forward to returning soon!

Great golf deal
Royal Lakes stood up to the over priced Country Clubs. Excellent course. and 2 of the most challenging holes are on #9 and #11. Good luck with these holes!

Solid course
Played after a lot of rain and things were soggy but course was in great condition. Some good driving holes, tough benders, and challenging par 3’s. 11 is tough, requires three perfect shots to beat it. Fun play.

Nice layout
Always fun. Lots of ball marks on greens, but still putted true(ish), even after rain and soft conditions.

Fun course
Greens are pock marked from all the ball marks. More golfers fault than course, but could be better addressed by greens keeper.

Still Good
Nice course with nice staff. Practice facility is good to get warmed up. Fairways were little slow with the rain we had. Greens were soft and slow from rains today and the night before. I didn’t like fact that pitch marks were in abundance. Some repaired and some not which made for a bumpy day. We can only assume that they were preparing to aerate them. Played here before so I’m familiar with what greens look like. Challenging track with some very fun holes.

The fairways were great, greens a little fast. You got punished for hitting into the rough. I enjoyed the course since you had to use every club in your bag.

Did not get to play due to weather. It was lightning and they would not let us go out. Can you refund my fee that I paid up front?

In good shape
The course is in good shape except the greens (bent grass) that are a little weak because of the heat other than that in good shape.

Like putting on fairways
I've always enjoyed Royal Lakes but green speed is totally unacceptable. I've putted fairways that are faster than these greens. Even the starter said they are very slow and he wasn't wrong.
At the turn we were suddenly behind a foursome consisting of two Asian couples that appeared out of nowhere. Guy in pro shop would not offer any suggestions other than to call him if they held us up...
Cart paths will absolutely beat you to death...get on the fairways as quickly as you can!!

Staff
Very unfriendly staff. Told us they have new golf carts. One golf cart broke down on 14 so we pushed one golf cart for two holes. Call the pro shop and let them know that we have a cart broke down. Continue to push the cart back to the pro shop and when we arrived Ben (in charge, lol. What a joke) was standing there and We asked him politely if we could play a few more holes because there was still an hour or two of daylight and we just helped him getting carts back. He told us we need to pay or join and be members if we wanted to play more. Had no sympathy whatsoever for us getting his golf cart back to the pro shop after there were three or four scattered through the course that had already broken down. Customer service is a real thing. Maybe you guys should try it at Royal Lakes. Good golf course but will never go back again just because of the bad attitude of the staff

Like this course
Played here a month or so ago when it was really wet. Conditions now so much improved. Dry fairways but they had been punched so were not as good as we had hoped. Greens in good condition. Pace of play problematic as before. Great until the 14th when we got behind a group of 4 who chatted on every hole with not thought that they were holding up play. Shocking. Probably won't go back as that's both rounds ruined.
