Situated just north of downtown Gainesville, Chattahoochee Golf Club is the oldest course in northeast Georgia. Robert Trent Jones crafted the classic design but it underwent a major redesign in 2006 that provided all new greens and bunkers as well as a new fairway drainage system. New tee boxes were built with five sets of tees, the longest of which stretch to over 7,000 yards. The best characteristics of the original design were kept in tact but the golf course is now more challenging. Chattahoochee Golf Club sits along the banks of Lake Sidney Lanier. It is nestled amongst mature trees that frame the fast greens and wide fairways. The golf course has become a local favorite over the years and has long been known as one of the best values in the area.

Awesome Course

I love playing here. The greens are challenging and fun. Pretty open layout.

If it wasnt so far up north in Gainesville, I would definitely play more often.

Fun, Good paced round

The course looks great, especially for this time of year. The greens were in great shape and were fairly challenging. I was paired up with 2 other people, who were very nice, and we were able to finish the round right at 4 hrs. The course was fairly busy too. We never had to wait for anyone in front and didn't hold anyone up behind us. Was an enjoyable round for sure.

Good Course, Good Value, Friendly staff, So-So Practice facility.

I've play this walkable course alot and find it to be just enough of a challenge without being too difficult. Even if I'm not having my best day I can have a few good holes that keep me coming back. The greens are the best in the area during the cooler months but seem to always lose their luster during the dog days of summer. The renovation was supposed to cure that inconsistancy but the grass choice has been questioned. My toughest hole a short par 4 #4 with a difficult landing area and a 2nd shot to a elevated green. don't go left, right or long all bad. The Range is so-so But the staff goes out of their way to be friendly. You'll have a good time.

An gem off the beaten path

A very interesting layout with some long holes. Moderately fast greens that were a bit soft and fuzzy for my taste. Overall, the course was well maintained, but not to a manicured state. The practice facilities are slightly below average. On course play management was all show and no action.

The club house is old and not in the best condition.

well maintained course with good management

The course has large elevated greens that roll smoothly. The fairways and tee boxes are well maintained. The management and patrons are friendly and helpful. Very nice facility for the price on golfnow. Regular rates are a bit steep, even for a county resident. No reservations about taking a friend or relative to play at. I know they will enjoy it.

Excellent greens. A very enjoyable lay-out.

Very good old-school parkland-style golf course. Nice variety of holes, with a bit of elevation change, but not too severe. always in excellent condition!

I enjoyed this course...

After receiving a GREAT offer on an 18 hole round, I reluctantly made the purchase without knowing anything about the course, and only knowing I'd be driving 60 miles round trip. The driving range leaves a lot to be desired, and the "pro shop" was just odd. But once my tee time arrived and I saw the first hole I was excited. Beautiful first golf hole. The green(s) were just amazing. Lots of speed and plenty of undulation. The rest of the course did not upset, and I thoroughly enjoyed my round. There were a couple of holes which had "Death" areas that were not well marked, that unless you had local knowledge, so if your tee shot went there, you were dead! Honestly, I wish golf courses would hand new customers a course "map" which might go hole to hole and say "On this tee shot you want to avoid left because there's a ravine that you cannot escape from."

Anywho, I do plan to return to this course and look forward to it eagerly. In fact, I have mentioned to a couple of my golfing buddies that we should go play there...

Well kept, moderately challenging muni

This course is well maintained with a novice friendly layout. The fairways are wide and greens are decent size. I like to walk and there's enough length and elevation to result in a good work out. Most "walkers" might even find this course a bit too exhausting. The groundskeepers do a great job and for a muni, the greens stay in pretty good shape. If a good deal for greens fees pops up, I don't hesitate to play at Chattahoochee.

Robert Trent Jones design Tee to green was great

Course was in great shape. Rough is long and unforgiving so stay out of it. The greens run true and were green. NIce views of Lake Lanier on part of the course.
