Be ready for this little guy on 17 Photo submitted by Thehawkes on 09/23/2017
Pace of play is terrible even on a weekday
Try to play this course at least once a month. The course is over an hour away from home. As usual the staff are friendly and accommodating. The problem is the pace of play is terrible. I have not been able to play all eighteen holes because no one allows faster players to play through. My partner and I were stuck behind a foursome beginning at hole #2 until we got frustrated and quit after nine. All though the staff are very nice I will not waste my time or money to travel to play it again.
Fun flat course
Nice layout. I enjoy the lack of elevation changes found at most courses.
Great time
Will definitely be back, especially when spring summer hits, course was challenging but fun
Good course, crappy weather
Took the family out for a round of golf after Christmas and chose Applewood. Staff is rated 5 stars only because I couldn’t give them more. Course is in very good condition considering it is late December and the area is still recovering from HH. Don’t mind playing in cold weather as I’m from Michigan and we play in 45 degrees quite often. When the rain came we decided to abandon our plans. Will be back to play here more this winter as we are staying in the area. For the money I suggest you choose this course.
Hidden Gem in Augusta Region
I play about 75 rounds per year, all across the greater Augusta region. I play all the area courses at least every six months for the past twenty years. Golf is an expensive hobby and quality can vary greatly from course to course and from year to year based on management etc. I take both my golf and my money seriously. For years, Applewood has consistently been among the better courses in the area and is unquestionably the most affordable.. By far and away the best value for the dollar. The greens are great and relatively fast for most courses. They're fairways are mowed nicely and divots regularly repaired. Tee boxes are solid. Restaurant.and shop have a good selection and good prices. Golf carts are new and up today with great seats. The course also offers a lot of fun third-party tournaments and a weekly tournament.course scramble that is fun. Great course. Worth the every minute of the extra 15 minutes driving out to the course.
Worth the drive
We drive an hour to play this course. We think it is well worth our time and money. They are owner operated and truly care about the facilities and the players. Great pro shop and cafe. The course has an excellent layout and is good for all skill levels. Well worth the drive.
Great as always.
Everyone is friendly for the most part and even when play slowed down, no one got upset because they realized it’s a weekend on a golf course. Love the staff and course.
