Collins Hill Golf Club
About
Collins Hills Golf Club is a little known course to outsiders, but it is a local favorite. The traditional parkland layout tumbles across a rolling terrain. The golf course features small, undulating greens and narrows fairways bordered by towering trees. The layout demands accuracy especially with the numerous sand bunkers that have been incorporated into the design. Several ponds and lakes are scattered across the course, coming into play on seven holes. The layout has its challenges but it is still gentle enough to accommodate a variety of different skill levels. Before playing, golfers can warm up on the driving range or utilize the other practice facilities. Collins Hills Golf Club's atmosphere definitely plays a role in the club's popularity, offering all of the amenities of a private club with a casual and friendly setting

Hole #11. If you do not have a good drive, you may have to lay up in front of the pond. Photo submitted by Sean4356667 on 03/04/2013
The course lends itself to slow play. Hole 2 was under major repair. Greens were in good shape.

The greens are in great shape
All the greens are in great to superb shape. Hole 2 has demolition of trees but was able to drive over it. Overall course is in great condition.
PLAY!!!
For the area, Collins Hill course is a great play for the average to above average golfer. Difficult distances, changing angles and blind shots make Collins Hill a challenging and fun course to play. Definitely will play again.
Great value
Visited Atlanta for a wedding. A course this good would be twice as much back home. Very pleased.
The courses blew me away.
This was a surprise that my wife planed for me and was I ever.
Nice layout and very challenging.
Check in was unaccomodating
Tee time was at 2:54. Arrived early at 1:40 was told we could go off in 15 minutes and to check back in. Checked backed in and new person was at desk. Stated we could go off in 15 minutes and would send someone to start us. Waited until 2:50 and a single player showed up. He stated he was a walk up and was told to go as the course was wide open. I assume they forgot about us and we wasted about 40 minutes.
Nice course
Nice layout. Very challenging for any skill level. Greens need a little work.
Nice course to play later but was dissapointed with the price and having to putt on freshly sanded greens.5/2/13
Wait a few weeks as the greens have just been sanded. 5/2/13
No two holes alike, challenging
Well organized and for a mid length course it had many challenges and great greens, F=Greens were fast and accurate.
Enjoyable place to play
We've played here 2-3 times and it's been good each time considering the time of year. The Georgia grass turns brown when it's dormant and it's been that way each time I've played (at Easter and Thanksgiving). Even so, the course is a little tight in spots but you can get away with a some spraying off the tee. Because of the mature trees, you do want to stay in the middle as much as possible or you'll need to be creative with your approach shots. The greens were starting to be that but even so, they were pretty consistent in speed and rolled nicely. Also, the electric carts are fairly fast and nice and quiet.
Course under renovation
This is a reasonably challenging course. The second hole is under construction and had places (not seen) from the tee box that can eat your ball. There were also a few holes with a bit of drainage issues.
The play slowed down considerably around hole 8 and even though a marshal appeared it did not it improve until hole 18. I did not appreciate the slowness. There were at least two groups backed up at the tee box.
Overall it is a good course. It is undergoing changes due to management change. I am hopeful that the current issues will be fixed in short order (2 months).
Ok for the price, poor staff
After some car issues, I walk into the clubhouse ready to go right at my tee time. The old man gives me grief and then takes literally 8 minutes to check me and my buddy out. We get to the tee box and the ranger has no clue what he is doing. After we (and the other two-some he decided to pair us up with) tee-off, we get told by the guys ahead of us that someones tee shot hit one of them in the foot since the ranger had no clue what he was doing. After that, the groups spaced out pretty well and it was better. The course is incredibly unforgiving. You miss a put on one hole and it literally can end up 30 yards away from the TEE BOX. I love a challenge but when it is impossible to keep a ball on the green because the slope is so much that is ridiculous.
The greens on this course were very good!
Overall, this is a best kept secret course. I've not played here in over 5 years, but I can clearly see that I've been missing out on some great golf. The greens are in excellent shape and for the most part, the fairways are really great as well. With the exception of hole #2, the course is in great shape! I'll definitely play here again....soon!!
Tough course!!
This course had narrow fairways and fast greens. It required good shot making or you could get a big number.
This course is on it's way up
This course is gradually being improved. They have made big strides over the last several years. I noticed on this outing they have cleared alot of the brush on the back nine. This has helped with finding your ball on errant shots. The course has markers on the fairway now, showing 200, 150, 100. I noticed on hole #2 they are in the process of fixing some of the uneven terrain. The course can be challenging at times. The driving range is in need of improvments. Last time I used it, there wasn't any yardage markers. It would be nice if they would make small greens at different distances like other courses have at their driving range.
The course was in very good condition, overall fun to play.
Most of the holes play very fair, however, hole number 11 is
very difficult for the average golfer due to it's length and layout.
The fairway is very tight due to being tree lined and for about
2/5 of it's length slopes very hard left to right. Only a near perfect long drive will find a flat area for the second approach
shot. Also, hole number 17 has a very small landing area from where a reasonabe second shot can be made. There is very
little opening between the trees for a clear second shot. I believe
that some significant tree trimming would make both of these
holes more playable.
This course has a good layout with 1 par 3 challenging green in particular
The cart path is absolutely terrible. There are places where it is torn up and if not careful could hurt your back if you go to fast
The coarse was a good deal ay 14.00 I wouuld of liked better grass to hit off of and the greens were like glass really fast.
For the money an alright coarse at $14.00 It probably plays better in the spring with the grass green and not dormant. A couple of holes had ground being repaired so you had to deal with that also.
