Monroe Golf & Country Club
About
Monroe Golf & Country Club sprawls across gently rolling hills blanketed with mature hardwood forests. Opened in 1957, the course has a classic design that is playable for all skill levels but will still provide a challenge. The golf course is mostly flat but there are some subtly tricky elevation changes that can be found throughout. Pristine white sand bunkers contrast beautifully with the green of the course. Water hazards come into play on a few holes and towering trees line the fairways. The greens are fast and the rough can be punishing. It's a layout that demands accuracy but it's not overly difficult for the high handicapper. In addition to the golf course, Monroe also offers a large practice putting green and a driving range with a bunker.

Course conditions - great shape
Better than just good! The course condition was better than most public courses during late spring. Enjoyed all aspects of the course and staff.
Wonderful!
Excellent golf course!!!!!!
Great Day!!!
Enjoyed a day at the golf course, it was very nice .
Wonderful Course
This is a fantastic old school course. It's not very demanding off the tee, but the greens are very undulating. I really enjoyed the course and can't wait to go back.
Nice layout
Nice course but needs a lot of work. Not much has been done as far as improving the look and repairing landscape. Dose not look like a shrub has been planted there in years.
Nice Course
Staff was ok but distracted. Pace of play was slow due to a group in front playing for money... they let us through on 16th hole. However nice course joined a threesome had good time nice company. Greens had been punched were a little bumpy. Value for dollar was great. I may go back. Not overly difficult course.
This was a very good course!
Overall, this course was very good. The fairways were in great shape, but the Greens could have been better. Customer service could use some work, but all in all, the experience was pretty good.
On a Pre Spring day
Played here for my second round of the season.
My game needs a lot of work, but not due to the course. Really liked the layout and terrain. I will definitely return when the course is green and in its glory. Had fun and that's what it's all about.
Nice Course
The overall course even with the aerated and sanded greens was a pleasure to play. The ammentities such as the snack bar and practice green were excellent.
The course must be maintained, but the aeration and sanding still allowed reasonable play because of the grounds staff excellent job. The club pro was a little grumpy. He seemed irritated we had an online tee time he couldn't find on his computer, but he wasn't rude. He accommodated us with a little earlier tee opening. The rest of the staff were great.
GOOD VALUE FOR WINTER GOLF!
In town from Texas this was my first round ever played in Georgia...loved the undulation changes that we just don't see too often where I am from.
The greens had been punch but that is the norm anywhere you go this time of year. Very good value for the cost, typical winter golf conditions but overall enjoyed my experience.
This course is mostly flat fairway but green were hard
Good. To play. But when I hit the ball not in fairway it is very hard to find because fallen leaves.
You need extra balls
Great value for a Country Club course
This place is a somewhat hidden gem. The greens rolled fast and true, and the conditions tee to green were great for this time of the year. The course plays a bit short, but the greens and the treelines provide a worthy defense.
I would feel comfortable paying $60 to play this course. As I played it for $20, it may be the best value in the area. Looking forward to playing again.
Open course gives way to low scores!
I have only played here once and the greens are quick but there are a number of areas on a few greens that looked to be diseased, although this never affected our play for the pin locations. Otherwise, this course is very open and it can give way to some very low scores. It is relatively difficult to lose balls. All the par-5's were reachable in 2 in distance, but none of those greens were easy to hit by any means. The quickness of the greens and the length of the rough are the courses only true defenses. I really enjoyed playing here only because I scored very well and never lost a ball.
It was like a dream.
There was like a dream out there. The pace was great there. Try it you will.love it.
Always a pleasure
This course is great! Everything was perfect! The staff is extremely accommodating and the course is in great shape!
Rough course
Greens were rough shape. Fairways had clumps of grass everywhere, and if your ball ended up off the fairway and slightly in the rough, good luck finding it, cause grass was so thick. Cart paths at certain points were confusing, and no signs on each hole. Layout was good, and if greens were in good shape they would be challenging.
Nice
Greens were not real pretty, they rolled ok but edges were not good. I'm a 17 hc and thought the course was not too difficult. The tips were only 10-25 yards longer than the middle markers. I'll be back.
More Monroe!
Another fine course due east of Atlanta!
Only 6300 yds from the tips, but don't let that fool ya. Most of the holes from tee to green are down and back up hill making this a much longer course. A number of doglegs, left and right, will challenge your shot making. Fairways were in excellent condition, but stay out of the ruff ~ thick and gnarly. Even though it was evident they were working feverishly on getting the greens in shape, they were still a little bumpy and patchy in places which is the reason for 3 stars instead of 4. Carts were in good shape and water stations were abundant around the course. I'm going back to take another ride on this roller coaster.
Great Staff
The guy in the club house was so friendly I felt like a long time member!! That's the kind of service that will keep me coming back!!
Fun!
I really enjoyed this course. WIll be bringing my friends back in the near future. Greens, fairways, and everything were well maintained. Difficulty was not too bad, and I shot better here than I have over the last few month. Open fairways but random trees can obstruct your approach shots so be accurate.
