Stone Mountain Golf Club boasts 36 holes of championship golf that are a part of Stone Mountain Park, which is one of the Southeast's most popular attractions. The Lakemont Course winds around the beautiful Stone Mountain Lake through forests of Georgia pines and hardwoods. John LaFoy, a native of the state, designed the golf course. He incorporated his signature mounding and dramatic bunkering, which is enhanced even further by the wildly undulating terrain. The lake is more prominent on the front nine where water comes into play on six holes. The back nine still features water on four holes, but there are more rocky outcroppings, providing different but equally stunning scenery. Stunning mountain views can be enjoyed from every hole and golfers will also be able to glimpse the famous Confederate memorial carving featuring Robert E. Lee, Jefferson Davis, and Stonewall Jackson.

Beautiful course to play

Because of the recent storm about 2-3 days ago, the course was wet and the cart had to stay on the cart path only. There were few players before and after me and they were courteous. I played alone and saw several groups of single players. Excepting for some mud-holes and pot-holes, the overall playing experience was quite enjoyable.

Great Course that looks bad

Stone mountain is really a great course but when it's bad it's bad. Right now the course doesn't look very well. But by midsummer maybe it will.

The course had a great practice facility, snack bar, and clubhouse.

I played lakemont and was not impressed with the greens. I would recommend hybrid bermuda greens to hold up in the winter months. Other than that, no complaints.

Mediocre course

The course was very wet, we played a 4 some 2 days after some rain, the course does not drain well. Not only that but i played this course in the fall as well and the green never changed they are not good! very fuzzy and a ton of dead spots. the ball roll is terrible. For the price the charge to play 18 with a cart $50+ they really need to start attending to the greens at minimal.

course was great greens were a little rough

The course was in good shape or should I say the fairways were great but the greens need a little work but it is winter and it is bent grass so I would have to say it was average but should have been 35.00 rather than 48.00

Front greens need maintenance.

Greens were not maintained and there was a tractor parked infront of a par 3 hole on the back 9.

A good challenge

Staff always very welcoming, Lakemont is tougher than Stonemont, although this trip the greens were a little spotty on some holes. I prefer that my game be sharp when playing this course as there is water in play on many holes and strategy is important on many "land" holes as well.

A great challenging track for the money

Really enjoyed Stone Mountain's Lakemont course. I was in Atlanta on business and booked the round last minute as a single. The staff were super friendly and quite laid back. Although I was left to my own devices in finding the 1st tee as there was no starter. I teamed up with another single and although the course was reasonably busy we only got held up on two holes, so pace of play was good. The course was dry but in good shape. The fairways were well maintained and the rough was quite forgiving. Which made up only a little for the very tight tree-lined holes. Tee boxes were level and and the greens were in great shape. The roll was true with medium to fast pace. Holes 1 (par5) and 6 (par3) were amazing but crazy hard, especially from the back tee's. Water left and tree's right, so was super happy to scramble a par on both. Will definitely plan to fit another round in here before the end of my trip.

Not my first choice

The greens on the front nine needed some work. There was also some muddy spots around the greens and a few fairways were torn up.

I didn't get to play the back because pace of play was ridiculous. There was a six-person group that wouldn't let us play through. We started at 2:10pm and made the turn at about 5:00pm (on a Monday). We ended up hopping on the front nine of Stonemont and finished in about 90 minutes.

amazing course design and people but chewed up greens

After playing this course last Saturday all I can say is wow. What a beautiful course design with some very interesting holes. But that being said I was very surprised that the greens where in such bad shape. Half dead, hard, divots every where, a few times I had to move my ball on the green in order to put because there was laid sod that had the corners rolled up and dirt exposed in my way. Over all great experience but if I had paid full price I would have been pretty upset at the green conditions as this course is normally 62.00. but over all great experience will defiantly be back.
