Decent course with room for improvement
First time playing this course. Greens were in great condition especially given how brutal this summer has been however, the fairways and tee boxes were rough. Course offers a fair amount of difficulty. My main complaint is with the staffing. There was not a starter or a Marshall out to regulate pace of play. Groups were in bunches all over the course with zero regard for anyone but themselves. With no one pushing play along it seemed as though many were using the course more like a driving range. I will not be back.
What an improvement!
Course has been greatly improved from several years ago. Course was crowded but play moved along. Carts have been upgraded and clean.
Hot deal! 88 felt like 98!
GPS takes you to dead end but good thing is you pass right by entrance. Driving in landscaping is overgrown which makes you almost regret your reservation (curb appeal). Amidst covid that should be addressed. Greens were in great condition, tee boxes not so much. I'm assuming the heat and covid slowed this place down felt vacant. Overall a good experience finished in 3.5 hrs. Playing alone against myself. I would definitely come again at the hot deal price.
Tee boxes and fairway good. Roughs had thick grass. Greens very soft and a little pitted from play.
Always Enjoy The Southland
Had a good time out there today. It was good to see the clubhouse following the CDC guidelines.
Good course for money great greens
Great course, needs more golf carts for the weekends, needs some tree work done but will definitely be back
Disappointed
Staff is doing what they can with a budget that is insufficient for the task at hand. It looks like mowing the course and fertilizing the greens is all they can do. They have given up on the sand traps, they are filled with grass and debris but very little sand. Greens are surprisingly good given the resources they have available. Could be a beautiful short course with an infusion of huge amounts of cash. Until that happens, I won’t return.
Bunkers
Under the circumstances, it’s tough to have good maintenance work. But the bunkers need the sand.
There are always tee times available for a reason
The staff overbook their course, do nothing to enforce pace of play, and don’t give a crap in general. It started pouring down rain for 15 minutes strait, and when I asked for a rain check I was told “it’ll pass” and I had to argue with the guy until he finally gave me a rain check. Doubt I’ll ever use it though, consider it $30 wasted.
1st timer
The course is definitely challenging in that there are several blind spots once you hit off the tee box. Make sure that they pair you with someone as that will probably make it much easier to spot your ball.
It has some great views and everyone on the course was very nice.
These people are ridiculous
This is Southland, not East Lake. The course is exactly like its ALWAYS been except the greens are actually really plush right now. A great value for such a fun layout. Roll your ball in the fairway, use a tee, and pull it out of the bunker and you'll have a blast. The snobs on here rating it so poorly are probably people in the neighborhood trying to keep people away to reduce the crowd :)
THE WORST COURSE
First of all, the staff was very unfriendly. I booked the tee time at 7AM. They were not open until 7:20. The way they handled the situation was very unprofessional and rude.
Tee off area was rock hard that I could not even put the tee into the ground. Some tee areas did not even have grass. It was just dry sand and weeds. Fairways were rock hard as well. I was scared to do a full swing because if I hit the ground wrong way. I felt like I was going to get injured.
The bunkers were also now sands. It was just hard ground that balls sometimes bounce out of the bunker. Even if it got in, you have to take them out and play because there are rocks everywhere. Most bunkers had grasses growing inside of them.
You cannot pay me to golf here.
