Schaumburg Golf Club - Players/Baer Course
About
The 27-hole course at Schaumburg Golf Club is divided into three nines that are played in different 18-hole combinations that range from just over 6,000 yards to 6,700 yards. The Tournament, Baer, and Players Courses all provide a unique set of challenges but they share the same great conditions on their tees, greens, and fairways. Schaumburg has been host to numerous events since opening in 1928, including the U.S. Open Qualifying and Illinois Open Qualifying tournaments. It is a popular course since the club offers country club amenities and quality with the affordability of a public golf course. Schaumburg's Players/Baer combination starts out with a few tricky carries over water on the front nine and a more forgiving back nine. There are strategically placed bunkers throughout the course, however.

Decent Course, Fair Value
Nice facilities, friendly pro shop staff and starter. Quiet electric golf carts. Course condition a little soggy from recent rain. Fairways thin in some areas. Greens were fast with brown spots. Other courses recently played have better greens. Many greens slope towards the back, so often cannot see ball land. Overall, decent course, fair value and good pace of play.
Superintendent is A-1
The greens still had winter kill isues but the superintendent did a great job with them. The greens were firm, rolled good and were very receptive to shots. They rolled very true despite their appearance.
Poor greens
Very surprised at the condition of some of the greens. They looked burned out. Played it a few years ago and it was plush
Excellent shape
Played here when I lived in Schaumburg back in 80's. Course is in best shape ever. Will be coming here more.
Awful Greens
Not sure why the greens were so bad. Nice layout but greens were in awful shape.
This course should have had a course alert to warn people of poor greens condition.
Greens
SGC typically has incredible greens. But yesterday they were the worst I've ever seen. They were all damaged and practically unputtable I've always loved playing there but the current green conditions were really bad.
don't play if it the weather is chancy
Played 11 holes and a down pour ensued, so they give me a coupon for 25% off my next round, to be used this yr. That gives me about 5-6 weeks. It should be 50% off, and it should be a calendar yr.
Nice this time of year
Haven't played here much, they don't have many deals for cart and 9 holes as they use too. Retired people don't like to walk in 80 degree weather dragging clubs with them. When the leaves are falling the rough here is really rough. It's a beautiful looking course to play though.
Players Course
The course is beautiful and very well maintained. The staff is exceptional. Aso, wonderful opportunity to enjoy the nice restaurant--great food. We all felt like we were at a country club rather than a park district course.
Schaumburg Golf Club
Great track, I walked 9 at the twilight rate for $13. That's an absolute steal as a consumer, there is nothing like playing a great course that you know that you get what you pay for and even more!
Highly recommended. Need to try out the other 9-hole tracks on the course(27 total).
Schaumburg golf course
Nice course well maintained good value for the money
Love this course but today
Love this course but today the greens were in terrible shape, dried up and yellow.
The fairway were in great shape, but second cut needed another mowing. You hit your ball in the second and you had a hard time finding your ball.
Slowing down everybody playing time.
Soggy, But Nice
I promised another review after having played the "Players" course, and I'm glad I did. The greens on the "Baer" course were in much better shape, and the layout was good. Despite the course getting drenched a few hours prior to tee off, it posed no problems except for one low area on 5 (and uncut wet rough). Carts were path only, but as I was walking, no worries...except the high humidity. They had water on at least 2 tees, so I didn't completely dehydrate. If you like to walk & carry, Schaumburg is a great option.
My "Go To" Course
One of the best park district run course in the western suburbs. well maintained, great staff. good deals on golf now,
the course has a great layout. some nice holes.
have been waiting 10 years to play this course, the greens were horrible worst I ever played. fairways were nothing to brag about, wish I could get my money back.
Rained out
We only played front nine(tournament course) , then the rain came down hard. The staff was quick and kind enough to give us rain check for 18 holes 50% off. We are definitely coming back . Very well kept course and challenging!
Take a pass on this one...
VERY Beat up. Should have went to Covered Bridges or even Pheasant Run instead. Not worth the premium price and the pace of play is brutal!
Great course 27 holes!!!
This was my first time playing this course and I really enjoyed it. With a great deal I got a good bang for my buck. It was a bit slow with foursomes everywhere, but with three 9 hole courses you might find an opportunity to move around at least in the later part of the afternoon. Really like the layout of the course and felt like I was playing somewhere special.
Great golf value
First time at SGC and was very impressed. Dollar for dollar, a terrific golf experience. Friendly staff and attentive to pace of play. Very good condition, bunkers well maintained. An interesting and challenging golf course. A definite replay.
Best public course in Chicago, period.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. They actually have rangers on the course that keep play moving. This course is in tremendous shape, great pace of play, best greens around.
GPS on the golf carts gives yardage to front, middle and back.
Like many course in the area struggled early spring with winter damage, course fully recovered. Best around!
