Up hill down hill side hill
Like the tile this course will test all parts of your game
Don't forget to take in the beautiful scenery
Also don't let the yardage fool you you don't have to play from the back tees
Nice course
Got a good deal from Golfnow. Have to start at no.5 since clubhouse is still non existent. Don't be fooled by the short yardage on the scorecard..plays quite longer with many uphill tee shots and elevated greens. Many blind shots and dogleg holes..need to know where to hit those tee shots. Course in good condition, greens are undulating and sometimes quite fast. Par 5's are short and are good opportunity to score with a good tee and second shots
Enjoy a Day of Golf in the Cradle of History
Challenging hilly course with a military history theme. Currently under renovation. You start on hole five and finish on hole 4. Needs a new clubhouse but the grilled chicken sandwich and fries were more than fine. Courteous and helpful beer cart girl made several passes. Golf is great on this scenic course.
Great shape
The course was surprisingly green despite the dry summer. The improvements since I played there 40 years ago have made a huge difference aesthetically and added to the course.
Beautiful scenery
The course is a wonderful track routed through the rough upstate NY mountains resulting in inspiring scenic views and significant elevation changes. This course is challenging - chose your tee boxes carefully! I will return.
Beautiful & Challenging
This course was in great shape , The views were spectacular . The staff was friendly. The greens were extremely fast . I would recommend this course.
Times too late
Only late afternoon times and very few spots
I love this course.
West Point is an awesome golf course. Each hole is different, and it has character. The length is not the issue here, but it's a very hilly and somewhat tight track.
The best part about this course is that it is very scenic and the course conditions are absolutely perfect. Nicely groomed fairways, the tee boxes were in good shape, the bunkers had nice fluffy sand in them, and the greens were just perfect.
The staff is very nice, and just a heads up, you start on hole 5.
Very enjoyable day even if my play was not.
The course is hilly and a challenge. The greens were the fastest I've seen at this course in more than 10 years. The greens are also hilly and most have severe slopes, and with the speed, made it difficult to stay close.
There were a good number of golfers this day, and the pace was slower than usual, about 4 3/4 hrs. Usually its around 4 - 4 1/4 hrs.
Still, great views of the Hudson hills from a lot of holes, which gives you an upstate experience.
Course well maintained
Greens had great speed
Sand traps were well maintained
Rough was at a playable height
Course was in great shape.
strange situation
Because of the work being done on the clubhouse, you start on hole #5. No Problem. But when I got to the 10 th hole, someone was starting there. Then when I got to the 18th hole, there were 2 groups getting ready to start there. Had to skip around 3 holes to maintain pace.
anticipation
What a great course each hole so different .couldn't wait finishing one hole just to see what was in store for us with the next hole.it feels like a four hour vacation just brillant, can't wait to return
Great course for the value
Hoped to see some cadets in uniforms but didn't. History of the course and views from it are wonderful!
Great tee time
Was my first time here with my son we truly enjoyed it.
Booking Confusion
I booked a twosome through Golfnow (great price w cart) for Friday noon. Problem was there was no coordination between GolfNow and the Clubhouse and so my name was not on the starter's list. Same thing with the other twosome that was paired with us. The Starter still managed to get us out a few minutes later but you can understand there were more golfers out and so we had to wait almost every hole,
On the other hand, the course was in very fine shape! For this season, they start everybody on Hole No 5 where the temporary proshop is located and finish with the 4th hole. Greens were as I remembered with unpredictable breaks and tight fairways. Its worth playing!
Course overbooked
Course was double booked
People there said golf now didnt send over their reservations
Had to leave and play mansion ridge
West point is a good course but this was a poor experience
Chance
First time I had the opportunity to play. Looking forward to playing it again.
Great Course With Almost Unbearable Road Noise on Most Holes
This is a great golf course . . . that we will never play again. It is very well designed with tight fairways, small greens, strategic hazards, and hills and valleys that test your golfing skill. If only it were quite.
Unfortunately, it is right next to the road. Again, and again, and again our golfing was interrupted by motorcyclists revving their engines as they raced by the tee boxes, the fairways and the greens. And when the motorcycles were not around, you couldn't get away from the almost constant sound of cars and trucks whizzing by.
To make matters worse, they've closed down their golf center (they are going to tear it down and replace it#. That means that you can't use their beautiful driving range. Instead, they give you four small hitting nets. No short game practice space #closed#. No putting green practice space #closed#.
What makes this so unacceptable is that their website has gorgeous pictures of their driving range and never tells you that you can't access it. Its like aerating your greens and not telling golfers about it. That's just not what I expect from the USMA.
If you want to give this course a try, play on a week day when the traffic most likely will be lighter. If you do play on a weekend, bring your ear plugs or head phones . . . because you will need them. ;-#
enjoyable course
Lots of elevated tees, if you like to bomb the driver this is the course for you. Greens can be tricky depending on flag position, downhill putts were tough. Some greens were being repaired but were playable. Hats off to greens superintendent and staff for the conditions of the course, they do a great job on a course that is challenging to maintain. Looking forward to coming back.
