Very picturesque
A mix of some very easy and some very difficult holes. Scenery is the best part. End of season and greens still showing signs of aeration. Management not happy with Golfnow users. Course is a lot of fun and if you dont get stuck behind a slow foursome can be played in good time.
Beautiful Mountian Views
Monumental course with majestic views of mountains and fall color.
Elevated greens are great but if you have a slice, pack extra balls.
My golf game at West point
For the fee I paid at this excellent and challenging golf course, it was a very good deal. Remember, that I am also a veteran, not a draftee but a regular army during Vietnam era. And all the fresh air on the mountains of West point, went directly to my blood stream. I talked briefly to the foursome before me, on tee of 1st hole, and they were very nice and friendly people ,so the staff. people. I visited West point compound on 1973 as a tourist, and took some slide photos of it, and this time, I had the chance to play golf. there. Thanks again for the deal.
Regards
Fred
great course
Absolutely loved this course, will definitly be back again next season
great features
I played alone on the front 9 and joined a twosome on the back 9 which played longer and more difficult. I will play this course more next year and plan on telling others about the course
Difficult Greens
Beautiful scenery, especially during autumn. Found the slope and pin locations on many of the greens to be unfair, especially on the front nine. Your score could balloon on and around the greens. Back nine is a little more forgiving. Also the pace of play was pretty slow.
EXCELLENT
Great layout, variety of holes. Good course to use a cart even from front 9 to back . Its a very long walk and after 15 to 16 which is back to original front 9 side. But what a scenic course . We all enjoyed the experience. All the holes have there own character and are not with any holes parallel fairways.. You want a course that excites you and has tee marker that have a story history on it. Put it on your bucket list..
Play it again, Sam.....
This course is excellent! First time visiting and it won't be the last! You see "only" 6000 yds and think piece of cake...it is anything but....!
Greens are quick and true. Fairways and bunkers superb. This will test your shotmaking and course management skills to the max...
"...I'll be back..."
Nice Course
Started out alone and ended up joining two ladies who were excellent golfers and pleasure to spend with on the golf course. We were behind two groups of foursomes who were really slow and did not care. However, I think this was a coincidence and generally, pace of play maybe better. Would have love to have rangers come out to speed up the group in front but again, it was just a coincidence. Had a drinks at the bar and the staff were really friendly. Great value for money.
Amazing course. A definite play.
This course is so interesting and beautiful. Every hole seems to pack in something different. The elevations are crazy. Be prepared. This is one of the few courses that is tough but makes me want to keep coming back. I'm a 15 handicap and I'd love to play it every week. Bring your A game or you'll be out there forever. (Ladies, the front tees seem short at 4500, but the elevation makes up for it!)
Home of the Black Knights
The course was in immaculate condition, all hazards were well marked. Not a course for walkers, quite hilly with a very long walk from 9 to 10. This track was groomed to perfection, as good as most private clubs. Adequate practice facility; range, putting green (bunker practice reserved for WP team only)
Put this one on your must play list.
Great course
I found the conditions to be great. We played this course before and I can't remember it being this pristine. Greens were extremely fast but fair. Fairways were well groomed. The hills are very challenging both up and down and the views are awesome.
Great views
One of the most scenic courses you could play. Well positioned trouble makes you think on most shots. Sometimes floods on hole 8. Great par 4's while par 3's could be more exciting. Facility is a bit of no frills but it is the army so what do you expect. Often here artillery practice in the background. Condition is average but it is the layout and the views that will bring you back. Long cart ride from 9 to 10 so I suggest not walking. Bring a camera and prepare to loose a ball or two. Best course in Orange County but not a resort feel at all.
Beautiful course with spectacular scenery
Excellent nicely challenging in great shape course with no wait time between holes. We played 18 holes and were paired with another two some who were a perfect two some to be paired with too.
What the heck just happened??
Last week I played Bethpage black and felt relatively good about my game. This week I play West Point for the first time and I got my absolute butt kicked. It was club championship day, so the course was set up as hard as I imagine it could get. The combination of some of the smallest greens I've ever played, at the fastest, sometimes ridiculous speeds I've ever played, made this short little 6,000 yard course feel like a beast. It mentally wears you down. Shot selection has to be perfect and well thought out. This is target golf, folks. Plain and simple.
Once I've had a couple weeks to recover from the beating West Point just gave me, id definitely return.
great course
Nice challenging coures good greens but do break a lot so allow a lot more break
Friendly staff
My first time playing here. Course was in nice shape greens in great shape. Pace of play a little slow, just under 5 hours. Staff was very friendly. Food was good, snack bar could use an update, but wasn't there for the snack bar. Overall had a good time challenging course.. Really like the monuments at each hole. You should play here at least once worth the trip.
Short Tuff Course
Second time playing this course. Excellent condition. May only be 5800 yards but a slope of 136 should give you a clue how tough it is. Absolutely beautiful Design. Can't wait to play again soon! The only issue was two very slow foursomes in front of us.
Fun course
This course was challenging but fun. The views were great and the course was in very good shape. The greens were fast and rolled true. The staff was friendly and they allowed us to get out a little earlier than our tee time. We will definitely play here again.
