Value course - but you get what you pay for

I’ve played here multiple times. Over the years the conditions of the course and friendliness of the staff have deteriorated. It seems like they are okay with that and don’t care much about what kind of experience that you have.as evidenced by the email I received to review the course titled “Please Review [Course Name]”. The starter is a bit grumpy and doesn’t seem to really know how to handle crowds because the front nine backs up quickly and often. I’ve only once seen someone trying to help keep pace and he was simply rude and upset that someone parked their cart too close to the tee (an extended bare spot that was closer to the dirt cart path - he was trying to avoid the pot holes)

The course has potential. The front nine is flat and long while the back nine is a mountain landscape with beautiful views. The tee boxes are beat up with a couple of them having no grass at all. The greens have been burned by someone apparently not certain how to use the chemicals meant to treat them. Many bare spots on the fairways and the sand traps double as water hazzards.

It really seems that this course could be beautiful with the proper management. Overall, it’s less expensive than other courses in town…. But you get what you pay for.

Slow, poorly kept

It’s unfortunate that the course is run how it is when it is the most convenient course to go to and would be decently priced. Unfortunately, the pace of play is awful and they do nothing to manage it. Letting foursomes of “beer league” play at a rate of two holes per hour. Front nine is wide open and smooth sailing, and back nine is more challenging but generally less backed up and offers more shade. The staff and the players here are very nice and I have mostly had a pleasant time with playing partners. It is frustrating that they do not repair fairways for weeks (maybe months) and the sand traps are hard as rock. Please muni, put some effort into pushing groups through or force them to let multiple groups play through. I’ll probably still play because I will expect different results but I always end up frustrated at the pace and the conditions. Doesn’t help that 1:4 people playing here don’t fix their ball marks on the green.

Priced a little too high for the condition

Course is laid out well and staff is great. Pace of play was almost 5 hours. Arrived to most tee boxes to find the group had not even tee’d off yet. Tee boxes were in horrible condition, fairways were not great but ok, looks like they did spend some time working on the greens.

Not the best

I felt like half the day was spent avoiding the pot holes on the cart path and bare spots in the fairways. The greens needed some love as well.

Slow, slow, slow

It took 3 solid hours to play 9 holes up front and only 1.5 for the back. They are letting too many people get out and backing things up badly. Expect to sit 10 minutes at each hole waiting on 2 groups ahead of you. The grounds are looking better. Trash containers were over-flowing and obviously had not been emptied in a day or so.

June 29 First timer.

Greens are in great shape. tee boxes, fairways, and bunkers were in good condition. Better than what you would expect from a public course. no GPS in carts. Course is not marked that well. Ask for a yardage book. The carts are showing wear and tear and I think I saw a sign saying they are being replaced this summer. No beverage cart. The people in the restaurant are nice, but order ahead so you food will be ready at the turn. Would definitely play here again.

Fun course

Great combo of links course on the front nine and mountain course on the back 9. Always crowded so lots of waiting and adjacent fairways on front 9 make for close calls but overall beauty of course wins out. Also, after much rain the day before, course was in great shape.

Tale of 2 nines

So, it's a municipal course with a decent price. I didn't expect much. The front nine was pretty nice. Fairways and greens are in ok shape. Back nine is unplayable. Multiple tees are in disrepair. One tee is actually entirely dirt. On most tees on the back the ball is above or below your feet. Fairways are overgrown or dirt and in severe need of repair. I will say that the greens on the back nine overall were in pretty good shape. I see the potential in this course. If Ashville would put time and money in this course it could be pretty good. If I played again, I would just play the front nine twice. Back nine is unplayable as it is now.

Horrible pace of play

Course is very fitting for the price, however they send tee times out every 4 minutes and I didn’t tee off until 30 mins after I was supposed to tee off. The starter is clueless and doesn’t care at all about his job which effects the pace of play kn the course.
