Asheville Municipal Golf Course

Tee boxes are poor...some are like softball fields. Trash cans overflowing. Cut branches laying around. Out of date clubhouse. All could be fixed if Pope Golf wasn't so cheap.

They jam too many people in. You will sit and wait 10 minutes per hole. The older guy taking tickets just sends people out.

Course needs some TLC but it is worth playing. Greens were in good shape, some tees and fairways need grass. However the course layout is great and talk about the tale of two nines. Front is rather flat but has a few good holes to test the game such as the two par threes. Back nine is a real test with narrow fairways and small undulating greens. Donald Ross’ influence is still there on many false fronts. Great price for what you get.

This is a fun course to play with the 2 distinctly different 9s. Fairways were in good condition considering how much rain that had just come down over the weekend.

My biggest complaint and criticism regards the condition of the tee boxes. Thousands of rounds are played each year and the course pays no property taxes. So, it time to spend a few dollars and at least seed the tee boxes. Their condition is horrible. On many holes we're putting a tee into bare ground. This is ridiculous. This needs to be fixed immediately this season. If the current management continues to refuse to do this simple fix, their contract should be canceled. Get someone like Kemper mgt to take over.

The muni is a golf course sent from the gods… the pristine fairways, true greens, and beautiful tee boxes… it just doesn’t get much better than this. Have played this course hundreds of times and will be back hundreds more… this is what golf is all about.

Lots of 9 hole play. Front 9, back 9 are night and day. The cart path is really good for a third world country. Lots of wash outs. There were tee boxes that were just dirt. Greens putted well and held. Fairways were pretty good. Loved the layout, thought the conditions could have been better. Played as a single. Starter wouldn't pair me with anyone. Foursome in front of me finally let me through on #6. Breezed through 9 only to find out they were letting people play 9 starting on #10. Lots of waiting.

Can’t beat it for the money, especially if you want a quick 9 early.

But, the pace of play is always too slow, the fairways are a clover field and the clubhouse is ancient and staffed with civil service types.

great course with a nice layout, weather was spot on as well. great staff, would play again.

I had a great time, including a hole-in-one on number six. Also had several birdies.

Great value. Shot maker’s golf course, especially the back nine. Greens roll very nicely. Lots of great history!

Friendly staff, nice layout and well kept greens and fairways. The back nine tee boxes had some rough spots, but it was a really nice course. I will play again.

The gang at Muni are ruining the pleasure of a golf outing, When it takes 4 1/2 hours to complete a round while they park a foot from the greens, climb the rough hills of the back 9, fall 2 holes or more behind the group in front of them and spend more than 5 minutes on every green is mind blowing yet everyone knows what they are doing and allow it to continue..

Enough is enough, people spend good money to enjoy a good game of golf, not to let the few have their way, who owns this course, certainly not them.!!!
