About
UNC Finley Golf Course is one of the top 20 collegiate courses in the country. The club offers a well conditioned comprehensive facility with a driving range, putting green, and chipping. Tom Fazio designed this challenging layout that is diverse enough to appeal to players of all skill levels. He included his trademark false fronts and greenside bunkers. To keep the golf course approachable, there are several different ways to play the bunkers and there are numerous risk-reward opportunities. Seven sets of tees ranging from about 5,000 to 7,300 yards make the course even more versatile. The 15th through the 17th are a beautiful stretch of holes that provide a formidable test as well. The excellent conditions are another feature of the UNC Finley golf course that has made it popular.

Great course!
Greens were a little slow but overall conditions are great. Fun layout with a variety of clubs needed for tee shots. Got to play by myself and walked 18 in 3 hours just before dark.
Good Course. High Price
Course was in excellent condition. Pace of play was slow. Cost to play is extremely high.
Way better this week!
Course was in phenomenal shape and the greens were pure. There appears to be a large cicada killing wasp issue on the #10 green so dodging those were fun. Only downside was my cart that died completely at the 18th green. Normally I wouldn’t be bothered by this but this happened last week to a playing partners cart on the 6th hole. Unacceptable for a course of this caliber. Tires were racing slick bald and the cart bucked a lot before it’s eventual demise.

Course is in great shape
Course was in great shape. Greens rolled very well, rough was punishing on some parts of the course (3” easily). Only complaints would be 1 green on the back, think 16 or 17, always has an issue with cicada-killing wasps burrowing in the green and some of the tee boxes could be a bit more level but otherwise no complaints.

Morning Overcast
Everything about the play was great. Some overcast all morning. Walking 18 was nice and easy, right on pace of play. Greens are a little slower but really enjoyed the course.
Favorite Course in NC
This course is always beautiful! Staff is nice and are always up for conversation. Very playable and fun with a group!
Not in great shape for the money.
Greens and fringe were not in very good shape. Course is short and narrow with brutal rough. Not a good value. Staff was very friendly though.

Bunkers need work
I know they are shutting down soon to do a renovation which may explain why it wasn't in tip-top shape. I really hope they address the bunkers during the renovation. This is my second time playing here and each time the bunkers were a gigantic disappointment. When you repeatedly hit the liner under the sand, it makes it a bit difficult to hit out of bunkers. Love the course, just needs some TLC. Looking forward to playing it again next fall after the renovation

Ready for the facelift
The course layout might be the best of any of the public courses in the triangle. The greens are ready for their renovation. Extremely excited to ply this course next summer. Pace of play was ideal for having walkers and riders. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Paired with single
We came in from out of state to surprise a friend for his birthday and booked a round. They paired us with a single. I don’t want to pay $100 a round to be paired with some random person who “gave us tips” the entire round. Disappointed to have what should’ve been a fun round with some friends ruined with an annoying single.

Nice course
Nice course, friendly staff. It’s a placement course. Rough was tough. Fairways in great shape. Greens were a bit slow and bumpy due to divot repairs. That didn’t detract from the experience.

I now see why the renovation is needed
The course was in phenomenal shape however the greens are wretched. Bombed out and depleted. Bent is hard to maintain in the summer so the new renovations are welcomed!
Pace of play was right on point and the course offers some really fun golf. Price is a little steep but it’s the only public course in CH and they know they can charged whatever they want. I’m ready to try the new greens out in 2024!
