About
UNC Finley Golf Course is one of the top 20 collegiate courses in the country. The club offers a well conditioned comprehensive facility with a driving range, putting green, and chipping. Tom Fazio designed this challenging layout that is diverse enough to appeal to players of all skill levels. He included his trademark false fronts and greenside bunkers. To keep the golf course approachable, there are several different ways to play the bunkers and there are numerous risk-reward opportunities. Seven sets of tees ranging from about 5,000 to 7,300 yards make the course even more versatile. The 15th through the 17th are a beautiful stretch of holes that provide a formidable test as well. The excellent conditions are another feature of the UNC Finley golf course that has made it popular.

Still good but overpriced
A very good design and the starter and staff were very friendly. Started on time with no issues but there were no rangers on course so even though we finished in reasonable time, waiting on every shot means somewhere ahead there is a slow poke! Compared to the other two school courses (Duke and Lonnie Pool), it is the most reasonable but i find paying $90 a round with cart too much, especially on a Thursday. Oh well, once a year isn’t terrible.
Great Time & Great Value
We had a blast. Very playable fun course. With the GolfNow deal it exceeded expectations. I will play it again.

Bent Grass Greens
Great layout, been playing here for over 20 years. As expected, the bent grass greens are being tested by the NC heat. Many greens being watered as we played, so inconsistent speeds. Sand traps could use some more sand....rest of course in great condition.
I understand they are converting to Bermuda greens in 2023.....hope they redo the bunkers too.
Go enjoy before July.....the greens will probably not be so good by then.

Nice course
I was exited to play this course because my golf lessons are paying off and I now have a 12 handicap and you can score on this course. Everything was great, super friendly staff, good practice putting/chipping greens and range. The starter was super friendly and helpful. Before going out I grabbed some lunch there and it was disappointing to say the least. Burgers were already cooked in advance and honestly didn't taste like a burger but I was hungry. Finley has large greens that rolled pretty slow. I know they are going to work on them later in the year but one has to get adjusted to the slower greens. The bunkers could use some TLC (more sand, raked, better manicured, etc..). Other than that, the course was in really good shape and greening up nicely. I would like to comment on a general etiquette issue. There were several divots in the fairways and around the greens that players didn't replace or put down sand behind them in addition to several ball marks on most of the greens that folks didn't repair. I filled in and repaired ones around me as I played the round, but it's unfortunate that others don't do the same.
I will be back to Finley!!

Fun round
3.5 hour pace of play! Enjoyable layout. Greens were not in top condition.
Thank you for playing UNC Finley Golf Course and glad you enjoyed a great pace of play. Our bent grass greens continue to be in great condition for the summertime. Bent grass is not as heat tolerant as they require more water and to be mowed at a higher height for maximum health. As we move into the Fall the greens tend to get firmer and faster as the heat dissipates. We hope you'll join us for another round again before we close for our renovation in mid-October.
Poor greens
Played this course on 5/31/2022. Greens were not healed at all from the recent aerafication even though their website reflected they should be healed after 2 weeks. Price of the greens is not worth the current rate. Second time I played this course, slow green speeds compared to the other 2 college courses. I would be very hesitant to return to this course again in the future. Positive notes are it’s a great layout, very good practice facility, staff was very polite and friendly. Just a shame the greens are not worth the price.

The fairways and bunkers were fantastic. . The greens rolled true, but had a few small holes remaining from aeration, but did not seem to effect the greens hardly at all! Would highly recommend this track!

Staff No Friendly
The course was being aerated, so this is the reason for some of the tougher remarks. In general, this is a good course. However, there was a gentleman working in the pro shop that was condescending and very pretentious. This makes for a bad experience and is exactly why some people choose not to play golf at all. I can tell you, as great a day as it was on the course, this one individual impacted my experience tremendously.

Finley is alaways a pleasure to play. Great layout, range, staff and conditions!
Great course and staff
The staff was pleasant and efficient. The course was in great shape. The greens were just aerated Monday so putting was a little tenuous. The cart girl was great, although I thought $12 for a ham sandwich was a little steep, but it was good. . My visiting friends loved the course too.

Wait 2 weeks as they are redoing the greens
The greens where horrible as they are doing the maintenance with aerating and putting sands. I would avoid this course for at least 10 days if not more.
