UNC Finley Golf Course

Hard to give a real opinion do to 40 degree temperature and 30 mile an hour winds. But courses was in tremendous shape. Greens were firm and fast.

Great round and conditions. The course talks for itself. I understand the new ways of the club and trying to stiffen up rules with people using amenities but maybe use better wording when asking for golf bag tags. Rather than asking my name and secretly find out if I have tee time, maybe ask hey what time is your tee time? Just felt weird to have a conversation across the putting green about my name as he tries to find if I’m in the right spot.

As members told me how college kids would treat the place before, I get it. I truly do but maybe ask directly what my tee time is and name. Felt like I was being tracked/watched before my round.

The course has recently reopened and it's both dramatically more challenging and more attractive too. The greens are the biggest change, with impressive speed and sweeping undulations capable of hiding buried dinosaurs. If you get above the hole, you're facing a 3 putt on many of the greens so you need to plan your approach shots or chip..

But to be fair, there is key work that remains to be open. The only water on the course is provided via ice chests with bottled water. There are no yardage markers and GHIN doesn't have up-to-date maps for the changes to the course. The new golf carts are superb and have displays showing yardage to the front, middle and back; however they course isn't yet set up to yardages to the flags using the electronics in the carts. Another thing to be aware of it that there is no snack bar so you need to bring snacks or sandwiches in addition to drinks. It's important to point out that these are all consequences of the university's effort to make dramatic changes to the course and the facilities in advance of coming big name tournaments.

Great greens, but you gotta be in the right spot or your facing a comeback putt that's gonna haunt you. The course has gotten a huge facelift and it's showing is fangs. Gorgeous but imposing and traps. Well groomed fairways with rough that seems to eat poorly hit shots. UNC Finley is a must-play course now!

If you played Finley before the renovations; this is not the same place. Many tee shots look similar but there ahave been big changes to the bunkers and greens. It takes a few rounds to really get the hang of the new greens complexes especially considering all of the slopes especially on the back 9. Of note, it is cart path only until the spring, the range is off the mats, and there are currently no food/beverage operations on premesis. However, there are ongoing improvements and this will change in time. Overall this will shape up to be one of the best university courses around if not one of the most challenging as well.

Enjoyed revamped course. I need blue flag cart to play 18 holes. Hope option soon. RW

I always liked playing this course, and was happy to play again after they reopened after a year of renovation. Great quality. Challenging, but not punishing.

Enjoyed the layout and course was in great shape. Can't wait to play it after the renovations coming next year

Could have dropped the cart path only in the afternoon.

I was so grateful to have the opportunity to play on this wonderful college course that had real Southern charm.
