UNC Finley Golf Course

They apparently improved drainage with the recent redesign, but that absolutely did not seem like it was the case when we played. 95% of the course was water logged. Everywhere you stepped, water would seep through the ground around your feet. There is immense potential with the redesign and I will likely give the course another shot in the summer, but was a bit disappointed in the condition.

Having played this course many times before it was redesigned, I was interested to see how it changed. Playing par 34 on the front is strange and starting on a par 3 is stranger. I wasn't a fan of that. Still not sure why they felt the need to flip the front and back because they changed nothing on what has been the front nine so could have still started there and then not had to start on a par 3. While I'm not disappointed to see the old hopes 10-11 go away, I can't say I'm a big fan of the new holes, which basically amounted to shortening a par 5 to make a par 4 and adding a short par 4 and another par 3. I expected something better for all the time they took to do this.

This was my favorite course in the area prior to remodeling. Course layout is still great. However, it had rained quite a bit a day before play, and the course was sopping wet. We were standing in water on most t boxes. The real issue was the group in front of us that were extremely slow. There was never a Marshall that came by to help speed things along. Ended up being a plus 5 hour round.

Even with a hot deal price, this one cost too much for what we got.

On the plus side, the staff was exceptional and the new layout is great.

New front 9 has three par 3s and one par 5. It feels very crowded. Really disappointing what they did to this course. I know that UNC needed the space for short game area to recruit, but this really cost the course. It’s a fine course, but they are trying to charge as if it was a premier course in the area, it is not.

The course design is excellent and the staff are fantastic. Can’t wait to go back.

Great course before renovations, even better afterwards. The greens and green side bunkers were manicured and beautiful but would punish you if you let them!

My first time playing the course since their renovation in 2023. Course has a sand hill feel and is great value for the cost, especially playing it with a hot deal. It’s not peak season yet but the bunkers were manicured and the greens were rolling like glass. They added a massive putting green course, which was great while waiting to tee off.

I can’t speak to the driving range or the grill as both were closed the day I went. I can’t wait to play again. I highly recommend it.

Had a great day to play. Was able to start earlier than my tee time.

This is a terrific course and it's only going to get better.

120 Dollars was not worth it, as they are clearly not ready to be reopened for business.

Paid 30 dollars for a cart, not told it is cart path only in advance, nor when checking in. This will be the case until the spring, apparently…disclose that and let people decide what they want to do, not find out when they try to drive across the second fairway..

I would have happily planned to walk had I known in advance.

No food, nor beverage-told they would reopen those facilities in the spring -again, no warning…hope you read this review beforehand. Have some simple food and drink items available…it is the expectation of every golfer.

Clueless staff did not seem to have any idea that there was any issue with any of this.

The new layout is fine. Front nine starts w what used to be #11 across the street. Super short par 3 third, followed by a new short par 4. Added uphill par 3 sixth. Rest of the course is the old course with a new green on 8…and some upgrades to some of the green complexes.

Terrible customer service for a 120 dollar round at a place that is clearly not ready to be open.

Save yourself the time and effort…at least until the spring when they are actually open…theoretically.
