Average with diseased greens
The greens need to be cared for, if I was a regular I’m not happy at what has happened to the greens at olde sycamore

Greens need love
I read reviews before I booked my time and saw that the greens were in rough shape but I went anyway as it was the only available AM time within 30mi. There are rough patches on almost every green. The price was discounted somewhat to reflect this versus what I've seen the rates at before but quite honestly it should a lot less. The demand for golf in the Charlotte area is at an all-time high and courses can basically charge whatever, regardless of conditions. A note on layout, there are few holes I felt truly comfortable hitting driver on even from the blues due to creeks and other hazards. While this forces smart (or risky) play it is less enjoyable due to having to play less than driver. Overall a good layout...but I won't return until the greens are back to normal.

Greens in bad shape
Lots of dead patches on the greens. Do not pay full price to play here

Greens are a mess. Dii ok not play.
Greens seem to have fungus or something as the grass is dying and have significant bare patches. The front nine the greens were so soft that short chips were pluging. Middle of summer in NC but course feels like you are playing winter golf up north. Because of this the greens are like the surface of the moon with divots and craters everywhere. If you make a put is pure luck as nothing is rolling pure. Play somewhere else until they get the greens sorted.

Better options in the area
The greens are in terrible condition, and basically unplayable in many spots. The day I was there, holes 4 and 11 were both closed. I was told to "pick any other hole and play it twice".

Greens are in rough shape
Several areas on most greens where grass is dead or a bare spot. The greens have just been punched and were not too bad and didn't really affect the roll on the ball on the greens. Just wished they superintendent would spend more money on fixing the greens then on the rest of the course. Fairways and tee boxes were in good condition.

Bad Greens
no heads up before booking that the green had been recently punched.
greens is general are some of the worst i have ever seen. dirt patches all over the place

Nice staff, course layout and fairways. Greens are worst I’ve seen!
I was looking forward to playing Olde Sycamore because of the layout and amenities. Unfortunately, I was VERY disappointed in the greens. Many of the greens have hard dirt showing and cracking in the dirt. Hard to describe how bad they looked and played. Very disappointing.
They are charging WAY TOO much for the conditions of the greens.

Great course with rough greens
Had a lot of fun on the course but didn’t get a true feel with the rough looking greens on most of the holes. It looked like a flamethrower was taken to them. Other than that, I had a great first experience.

Greens need a lot of work
Most of the greens were borderline unplayable and management still charged full price and made no mention at all. Probably weather related but buyer be ware

Save your money for now
I’ve always been a fan of this track but dang was it rough on Friday 8/12. Main issue (a big one) were the greens. Terrible condition, way over watered with no one repairing their ball marks. For the price they’re charging and the condition of the greens I wouldn’t recommend this course. Once the greens are back in shape I will definitely come back but until then no thank you. On another note regarding the staff: I tried making small talk with the guy at the desk and he acted like I was interrupting his day. He also failed to mention the condition of the course. Overall, disappointed with this course.

Good course, lousy greens
Played this on a busy Sunday . Could be a really good course but a couple of things came up that were a problem:
1. They charge a lot for driving range balls, which is crazy given you're already paying top dollar for a round.
2. The greens are in awful shape - many look like an ATV ran over them, complete with tread marks and dirt instead of grass. It was comical putting on some of them.
Fairways were in really good shape and the course is challenging otherwise. I wish the restaurant was open and that the amenity cart had a full alcohol selection vs beer.
Not sure we will be back - other options available that are the same price and in better shape.
