Olde Sycamore Golf Club

The course was in good shape and pace of play for was excellent.

Course layout pretty generic with hole after hole of mid 300 yd doglegs.

Butchers were in excellent shape for this time of year and play as bunkers should.

Little over-priced for the what the course is.

Plying the course was a great experience for me. I enjoyed he challenges of the course, which I learned (as play progressed) required good course management. Met new friends who enjoyed the course, as well, for the first time. I would recommend this course to golfers who would enjoy a challenging course with greens with a fast pace.(possibly 11)

(1) Although they don’t overseed the course they water every night regardless of Mother Nature. Thus there are numerous muddy areas. Especially around the greens. (2) The bentgrass greens are rolling better, but there are too many spots that should be marked GUR. (3) Fantastic staff and excellent bar & grill, See 11/05 photos

My tee time was changed because weather the day before left some debris on the course they needed to clean up. This was fine, we were flexible. . They then had a shot-gun start. We weren’t able to play a full 18 because they started other groups before we could finish. We were told we could wait an hour to finish the last 3 holes we hadn’t played yet. We were told we could come back to play 3 holes at a later date by the pro. Thanks but no thanks

Course has a lot of creeks that run thru the middle of a lot of holes that keep you from ever hitting driver. Several greens had bare areas.

I won’t be going back to this course.

I played this course a few months ago and the greens were rough. This time the greens looked good. If we could get everyone to fix their divots they would look amazing.

Greens, especially one first few holes, need major work. I used to love this course. I’ll try again next year and hope for better greens. Staff was great

70 degrees and sunny with no wind. Started playing with 2 gentleman as a single. Great company. Course layout was pretty darn good. However, after seeing the first 4 greens, I thought there might be a problem. There were a lot of spots on the greens that were molded in some places, but after seeing where they were, I think they didn't get enough sunlight. Good variety of holes. Green speed overall was pretty consistent. Fairways and tees were were very playable. Number 9 is a great golf hole and very challenging. I recommend anyone in the area to play this enjoyable course.

Always enjoy this course, greens in decent shape for this time of year. I like the layout.

It's a nice course and I play it about twice a month. The fairways are in fairly good shape given it's October. The greens are a little worn but again we're towards the end of the season. The staff could be friendlier and I really don't like that each person has to pay a $10 cart fee if you request single carts. if you drive together there's no cart fee - it doesn't make any sense.

Pretty great distance, maintenance, variation, and amount of hazards. It’s a course that is well maintained and better than most courses within the city proximity but not quite as good as red bridge/eagle chase in my opinion. Greens were pretty fast and had very few major blemishes. I would come again if the price is right but I think most days I’d make the drive out a bit further. Played on a packed Friday with moderate pace of play.

Best time of year to play golf. Good weather, good condition, greens ok...needs some ball mark healing.

Great layout and wonderful staff, but the greens still don’t reward good golf shots. The greens are getting better, but they haven’t been this good since May. Same story every year. During the warm months the greens are over watered, which promotes various diseases and limits healthy roots. Then numerous pitch marks and resultant debris affect the putting part of the game. I still have to take relief from damaged areas on too many greens. Too many players fail to repair their pitch marks on the soft greens. They are getting better, but the process will repeat next year and the greens will be smaller. If you don’t care about your putting this is a great course.

I was very disappointed in the conditions at Olde Sycamore. Admittedly it rained a few days prior so the greens were soft and susceptible to ball marks, but there were tons of spots and raw ball marks on the greens, and two of the greens (pictured) were so chewed up it was like putting on shag carpet. Throw in generally soggy fairways and cart-path only pace of well over five hours, and it was a very frustrating and disappointing day. Can’t fault the course for the weather/cart-path only decision, but the greens were almost unplayable in certain areas. I will wait until next season before giving Olde Sycamore another shot.
