The Currituck Club
About
The Currituck Club has a Rees Jones-designed layout that stands out from other Outer Banks courses, mostly thanks to its ideal location along the Currituck Sound. The golf course shares the landscape with an abundance of wildlife including deer, osprey, geese, and turtles. Golfers might even catch a glimpse of an eagle soaring overhead. The layout tumbles across rolling sand dunes and combined with the seaside location, the golf course offers a true links feel that is reminiscent of traditional Scottish courses. The diverse coastal terrain is covered with maritime forests and wetlands. The holes are both challenging and scenic, especially the seventh through the ninth, which sit right along the Sound. The golf course also finishes on the Sound with a scenic closing stretch. Playing The Currituck Club right at sundown will provide unrivaled views.

Overpriced
Not even remotely worth the price tag. Multiple closed tee boxes, no rough to speak of. Finished 5 holes before rain and cloud to ground lightning. No warning horn or siren. No rain check for lightning. Had to either play in between lightning bolts or eat the greens fee. Chose to eat the fee and live.
Tee Boxes in rough shape but great layout
Normally the most expensive course in the Outer Banks but we got a great deal through Golf Now. Almost all tee boxes in very rough shape. The course layout is awesome, hope the tee boxes recover. Thanks,
Loved it
Beautiful course, and very challenging. A little expensive, but everything was well kept. I will definitely consider playing here again the next time I am in town.
Big disappointment
Played this course last summer and thought it was a bit overpriced. This year was way worse. I could barely find a spot of grass on the driving range to hit a ball. Tee boxes were horrendous. A lot of them were being worked on and several had 4 sets of tees stacked up together on the same temporary tee box which was mainly weeds and sand. Course had a big nutsedge (weed) problem which was being treated. One par 3 was playing 65 yds in which the tee box was almost unplayable. One hole had a guy watering the green, hose and all, as we hit into it in the middle of the day. I understand course maintenance, weed problems, new tee boxes, etc. but when conditions are that terrible you just cannot continue to charge $165. This played like a $35 muni in all ways. Currituck Club should be ashamed for selling a product like this at such a steep price.
Tee Boxes
Too many tee boxes under repair and the tees were placed together. Note--Repair 1/2 of the tee boxes at a time and use the other half.
Damaged Course
I played this two years ago and it was in great shape. This year they have lost many tee boxes that significantly shortened the course. The greens were in bad shape as well. Big disappointment, especially for the premium dollar.
round of gofl at Currituck club
The course was challenging and we had a fun time playing it for the first time.
Avoid Until Tee Boxes Reconstructed
Never played in the OBX and this was my first round of the week. Read a few other reviews mentioning the tee box issue but decided to take a flier and try the course anyway when the rates went "down" to $119 at 3pm.
Firstly, the other players that mentioned the tee box issues were 100% correct. The tees that were completely under repair or not playable were holes: 1, 2, 3, 7, and 15. There were more where the blue tees (normally 6400 yards) were either on the Black or White tee box. To pay over $100 and have 1/3rd of the tees in complete disrepair is embarrassing and fleecing of tourists.
To make matters worse, for our $100+ round you had to pay $6 for a small bucket of range balls. I don't care where the course is, if you're paying $100 for a round the range balls should be free. Period. Especially at a semi-private course. Additionally, when we checked in there was absolutely no mention of the course undergoing tee box repairs.
Golf course management is a hospitality business. The proper way this entire ordeal should have been handled was upon check-in the Pro or Assistant says, "we're undergoing some significant tee box repairs and for the trouble we'd like to either offer you $XX off your round today or a free large bucket of range balls." That's good customer service. Instead we're thinking the whole day about being charged $6 for a lousy bucket of balls and a course that *might* be worth $100 in pristine condition.
Overall, the course was in very good condition and very playable even in the extreme wind. We were even able to play as a twosome and finished in under 3.5 hours. But, I would advise staying away until the tees are fully reconstructed or calling ahead to find out about their status. If I had to guess they won't be fully ready for play until the 2018 season.
Terrible, don't go there
My husband and I had a terrible experience at this course yesterday. They overbooked Ttimes. We waited for an hour before playing. Then we waited on every hole to play through. Took us 5 and half hours. Course was not in good condition as well. Can we get our money back?
Beautiful course, slow greens
We had a great afternoon round. The feel and treatment of a private club. Pace was a little slow but not terrible. Layout is great and course is challenging enough for sure. Greens were very slow but true. All in all it's a great course.
Not worth the $$$$$$
My son in law and I played here on 7/12/2017 and were disappointed by the conditions. I have played here at least 2 dozen times over the years vacationing at OBX and today was the worst of all, last year wasn't very good either. We were told before we teed off 2 tee boxes were under repair, when in fact it was more like 5-6. Most of the tee boxes were a mess including the signature hole 15 .....all dirt and weeds. The greens were slow and their was evidence of wear and tear due to new sod that was in need of water. Golfers go play the Pointe, you wont be disappointed.
Dissapointing
While on vacation we decided to make reservations and play. We found some Tee Boxes as previously eaten up by the cinch bugs and nothing but roots remaining.
We were told that the greens had been aerated 10 days previously and found them to be slow, as the ball putted would stop on a down hill slope. The top dressing was still evident and slowing up our putts. I would not recommend this course until time past and the tee boxes were worked on. Was it worth $100, No I think not.

Pasting the same canned comment about the tee box project is still terrible customer service. It might be the quickest way to address customer's criticisms but it certainly doesn't convince me I should return to this overpriced course that clearly doesn't care enough to respond in an individual manner. WHY NOT TELL PEOPLE WHEN THEY CHECK IN THAT HALF THE TEE BOXES THAT 90% OF GOLFERS WILL BE PLAYING ARE COMPLETE GARBAGE? At least then the customer can decide if they still want to fork over $100+
