Baywood 6th round
This is a well set up, flat course offering a challenge to the average golfer. Two over the water driving holes are fun. The course condition is good but could be improved. Course management is working on it. Greens are spotty in parts - plugging to be done next week will help. I will definitely play again.
Bad Condition — Interesting Layout
This course was not in good condition.
Thin and patchy fairways, potted and sand greens, torn tee boxes.
The layout of the course was interesting, and would have been good if the condition was better.
The practice green was non existent. Half was ripped apart and roped off, while the other half was more sand and ant hills than grass. Small driving range off the grass was also present in ok shape.
Baywood 3rd round
Course continued draining and presented itself with less soggy areas. Greens are in fair shape but still with size are challenging as is the course.. I walked and was still able to stay ahead of the trailing group until the 14th hole.
Greens are incredible
Without question the fastest greens I have played, props to the staff. Should host a US Open qualifier in the near future.
Baywood 2nd round
My second time this week. The course drained quickly from earlier deluge. Shots bounced further. Fairways are in great shape. Greens need TLC although they are true and fast. Very nice, forgiving layout allows duffers like me to hit without claustrophobia or fear of out of bounds. Amenities are in short supply, understanding due to COVID-19 and summer season. Workers are eager to converse, setting up course for a great time.
A wet one
Given the rain of late, the course is extremely wet however the fairways are challenging in their openness. A good course for golfers who want an open fairway to pound it out. Greens are patchy without much slope but sizable and challenging even in wet conditions. Club-houae ameniities need improving (thanks COVID-19) but friendly and helpful staff make up for this shortcoming. All in all a course, not all unchallenging, with a few nifty turns and opportunities for lower scores.
Worst greens
One of the worst greens I’ve ever played on. Only paid 15$ for 18 holes so I’m not that upset but I played this course about a year ago and the up keep went down the toilet.
Covid 19 nightmare
The course was a cow pasture. When I booked on golfnow didn't know that the clubhouse didn't have any amenities . Played with 2 other guys. No starter, was told just get to number one when we're ready. After two holes I knew we were in trouble. Greens and teeboxes were terrible, fairways were not taken care of. Every shot was a gamble. No beverage cart as we went thru the front nine. Stopped at the turn and nothing, beer or food. They should be charging 50 cent a hole, never going back. Avoid at all possible.
WORST course ever!
If you expect grass (not sand and weeds) on the golf courses you play, better look elsewhere! I literally live less than a mile from this course but, NEVER will play this course again! The reason(s), where do I begin?! Just look at the practice green next to the clubhouse and it will tell the story for the entire course...dry, dead, and damaged! No or patchy grass on the driving range , tee boxes or fairways! IF you do find a spot of grass, there certainly no first or second cut to identify! The greens are the worst of any I’ve seen in over 20 years of playing! There are huge dead/sandy spots or they are overgrown with crab grass! Bunkers- you’re lucky to find sand (or a rake) in any bunker and you won’t find any on your cart to fill divots either.
I honestly cannot understand how anyone could give this course an “ overall “ rating of more than one star! Even the $14 green fee you find on GN isn’t enough to inspire me to play here! Simply the worst course conditions of anywhere in the state!
TERRIBLE CONDITION!!
I have played here several times before, the last time about 2 years ago. I have never seen this course in such absolutely horrible condition. The fairways had numerous bald spots, the rough was in places nonexistent, and the greens! Oh my God, the greens were the worst I have ever seen anywhere. No such thing as a true roll here. This used to be one of the courses near Fayetteville I would always play when I came to visit my daughter. That will never happen again. To say it was in terrible condition does not do it justice!
Won't be back
This is about the 4th or 5th time I have played this course, and it will probably be the last. My daughter lives in Fayetteville and I come to visit once every year or two. This course was in absolutely terrible shape, the worst I have ever seen it. I was so greatly disappointed I will probably not come back. It was that bad. Bald spots everywhere, weeds in the "fairways", and the absolute worst greens I have ever putted on. No such thing as a true roll here. My advise is to go to Keith Hills or Cypress Lakes for about the same price but much better conditions.
This course was in bad shape
The pro shop opened after my tee time, the greens were so bad the ball was bouncing all over and you couldn’t tell the green apart from the fringe. I would not play here again.
Price can’t be beat, course has a laid back attitude but will test your game. Greens need work
As others have already stated, the price for baywood can’t be beat and it’s a very “ welcoming “‘place to come play. You never feel pressured or that your not supposed to be doing this or that, it’s very laid back and you feel as if you can just have a stress free round of golf.
That doesn’t mean the course is just a walk in the park though! Baywood does test all parts of your game. From having to hit a good tee shot, to hitting a good iron into the green, most holes have bunkers so you have to be precise. One thing I do love is none of the holes are really “ long “... two par fives in particular are decent length but you could easily be on in three or even two if your a long hitter.
Nice community, great price.
I played here for a second time and it was solid again. The pace was fast, the course was good for November, and the price was excellent!
