Kings Grant Review
I played this past Sunday and amazed at the good condition of the course from what it was a few months ago--other than it being wet from all the rain, but what course isn't!! We've made tee time to play again this coming Sunday. The gentleman in the pro shop was friendly and even the grounds keeper stopped by when we finished one hole and asked our opinion and of course it was so much better than before. Our group likes the challenge of this course compared to some in the local area. I recommend to anyone to go play it, you won't be disappointed. Don't we all like the longer days now for golfing!!!!! Go get in 9 or 18 after work!!!!!!
Incredibly improved
Kings Grant is under new ownership and General Manager. The putting greens are back and big changes have been made with several projects under way. The changes and improvements are remarkable. I can see that KG will return to its former glory soon. I will be playing here more often.
Kings Grant Golf
Go play KG now!!! Amazing improvements for anyone that hasn't played KG in awhile. You won't be disappointed. The Supt has done a great job and from what I've heard there are more improvements on the horizon. This will be my course of choice in the Fayetteville area.
Diamond in the Rough
"It's not how many times you're knocked down ... it's how many times you get up." - Anonymous. King's Grant has rebounded from a series of questionable - to - terrible management teams. Their current team is NCAA Final Four-quality ... not to mix metaphors too badly. Course design and topography have always been among the area's best. Their new management group has committed to - and is achieving - a return to greatness. Despite an abundance of foul weather over the last nine months, the greens are terrific, fairways, and roughs good - to - excellent, and greens fees modest. Bottom line: there is no better value in this region for avid golfers. We should all do our jobs as well as PGA Professional Mike Monk and his team do theirs!
A Superior Fun Course
Kings Grant is a hidden gem within the city of Fayetteville. A FUN course that offers challenges, varying terrain, subtle breaks on the greens and enough distance to challenge everyone. The tees are adjusted to fit every golfer in any group and suitable for any skill level. The fairways are wide enough with suitable landing areas yet errant shots will present recovery problems. The course is recovering and under new management that has been in place for over a year and the improvements in amenities and course play ability are quickly overcoming any previous negativity. The sum of the course is Challenging while remaining FUN. A great way to spend a few hours and enjoying the great game of golf.
The Phoenix
Like the Phoenix rising from the ashes, the new owners and Mike are making fantastic changes. Greens are so much better than two years ago.
New Owners course looking great
Kings Grant is under new ownership and General manger. The course is working towards returning to one of the best tracks in the area. Kings Grant putting greens are back and big changes have been made with several projects under way. The course is starting to flourish again with more golfers everyday. I challenge you to find a better three finishing holes in the area to include Pinehurst.
A heck of a good time!
No an overly long course...but, what a challenge! Not a local, but understand that this course is rebounding nicely from some troubling times. Can't speak to past issues, but this course is in great shape and improving daily!! Very challenging layout.
Kings Grant
Course was in good condition for February. The greens were fast. The staff were great as always. I really enjoy playing this course.
The Place to play in Fayetteville
This is a course that is that will challenge your skills. Do not let the course yardage fool you. This is a shot-makers course. If you wander too far astray from clear lines of approach to the green, you may pay dearly for your area. This a fun course to play. Management is terrific.
This course is a challenge
From a year ago on temporary to the great conditions of the greens now cut down trees and low brush. Drainage issues have been addressed.
Great shape.
I f you want to enjoy a round of golf, great staff, chalanging course but fun to play, course has made great return to formal condition in last 8 months and more to come
Getting Better by the Day
This course was awful two years ago and it has truly risen from the ashes. I can't begin to tell you how many great improvements have been made in the past year, especially in the past 6 months. At this rate of improvements, the course will be top shelf in another year. If you haven't played at Kings Grant in a while, then you will be in for a treat. Enjoy.
Most improved course in the area
I have played this course so many times that I can't count them all, although it's been months since my last round here. The turnaround has been exceptional!
First off the greens are the most improved part of the course, but weeds are virtually nonexistent, there have been many trees, underbrush cleared out on numerous holes.
The course looks clean and the streams and creek beds are much cleaner too! Major ditch repair on hole #13 is very impressive. Numerous cart paths have been repaired.
The tee boxes have been overseeded with ryegrass and is certainly aestetically pleasing and playable.
There are three holes that have drainage issues and I also understand that they have scheduled them all to be corrected within 30-60 days.
3 months ago, this course could not score a 1 on the rating scale!!! A friend of mine suggested to play it and I was a little apprehensive to do so but very glad I did. It is reminiscant of the Grant of old.
Great membership and positive attitudes are clearly a winning combination here. I am very happy to return to this hidden gem of a local track and see the resurgence of this course.
Keep up the great work and drive on!!!
Best Layout in this area by far.
Greens have made a 180 degree turnaround since the current superintendent took over. New ownership plans to invest significant capital in 2019 to add more amenities, improve clubhouse and replace the current irrigation system. Cant beat the value!!!
Greatly improved course
This course was closed for 6 months three years ago. Since reopening with new owners, a lot of work has been done making the course as good as any in this area. Challenging course and quiet environment to play in.
Great layout, poor management
This course has an awesome layout with the possibility of being a great course. I think it is poorly managed and that really takes away from what the course could be. Personally I feel that if they would get rid of Mike Monk and get someone in there that actually has a clue of what is going on that the course could start to make a turn around for the better. Of course with that being said, everyone knows that the basis of course operation is the all mighty dollar, but getting rid of Mike Monk would help tremendously.
This review was written by disgruntled ex-member that was dismissed due to his behavior and language. Management offered him an opportunity to meet discuss his situation and he choose not to attend meeting. Has personal vendetta against the General manager.
