Great condition
The course was in great condition. Greens were in good condition and the over seeded fairways and tees was nice.
Narrow Fairways
Keep your ball in the fairway and this will be an enjoyable round. Fairways are firm, greens are small.
Great value
The course was in fair shape from tee through the fairways with some patchy bald spots here and there. The greens where great. Fast and the ball would roll true with no bounces. Bring your on water in the summer because water coolers are allowed to run dry in afternoons.
Definitely not on my re-visit list
Let me start with the good: housing community was very nice, but the course leaves something to be desired. Tiny 1 way damaged asphalt entrance led to what seems like a modular type home. Check in was very pleasant and the staff seems to be real nice. There was no one to monitor the start times and it was extremely backed up. Members are very rude and snooty. Overall layout was challenging at times. The overall condition of the course left something to be desired. Even though it had not rained in over a week, there was a tremendous amount of water / mud everywhere, which I contribute to poor drainage. The greens were even worse and not very well maintained at all. Bare spots, small trenches made for some wild putting. From what I have heard, their head greens keeper left to go to another course. It may be an indication of how the company runs the course. The course has some potential, but there are way to many courses within 30 minutes of here for anyone to want to play this one. Do yourselves a favor, visit Anderson Creek, Bayonet, or any of the Moore County courses. It will be a much better experience.
Fun but want more
This course has a very fun layout. Tee shots are critical. Greens were kind of beat up, sandy and very soft and extremely slow (very long grass). Fairway was good and the rough was thick. I enjoy the course as it was my second time, I just want the greens to be better. Good bang for the buck as we played it for $15.
good time for the price
I love Kings Grant. They were doing some maintenance on the greens so they weren't te best, but this is a great course to have an enjoyable round.
The course needs WORK!
The course needs a tremendous amount of work. The entrance alone makes you wonder if you are even going to make it to the club house without needing to get a front end alignment. Maybe Fort Bragg is using the entrance as a bombing area. Bad. With this type of first impression and getting to play only 6 holes before the skies opened can't remember the course for the first six holes.
Fun and value
Employees were all great with a good attitude. Our twosome was matched with a veteran of the course who proved to be invaluable. Tall grass just off fairways made it possible to lose your ball within 5 feet of it. A couple greens had obviously been treated for disease, but other than them, the course was very nice and greens well kept.

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
The first impression is always most important. There is a stunning entrance to the King's Grant residential area from Ramsey Street, however, there is a small unassuming driveway from Shawcroft Road to the Clubhouse, it appears to be an asphalt cart path, one car wide, one direction traffic. Aside from a small sign at the entrance you will not know you have taken a proper turn as the course and clubhouse are hidden from view for about a hundred yards. The drive soon turns to gravel/pavement mix for an additional hundred yards and more doubt begins to set upon the first time visitor.
Arriving one hour prior to my ten o'clock tee time I found the "clubhouse/snack bar" a bit under par for a "Country Club" setting but adequate. The young lady in charge appeared to have only opened the clubhouse for me, as though I were the first player to arrive for the day. She was very helpful and had a good attitude and pleasant smile.
The driving range was a disappointment, nothing like the one pictured above; the range had not been mowed in several days and the tee box was in shambles (I spent several minutes picking up ball baskets in order to have a half decent place to hit). The range ball dispenser worked fine but the balls were several years old and had not been culled in some time.
I played on a Tuesday after a rainy weekend and had a bit of luck on the first tee as I paired with a couple of fine fellows who are members of the KGG&CC. We played all eighteen holes (how can you not play nine when playing 18?) and I was glad to have a helping hand with directions, hazards and places to avoid.
The course was in fine shape and more scenic than I had expected. There are some very fine views of low country waterways as there are several creeks which feed the Cape Fear River. (I saw a beaver, or may have been a muskrat never saw the tail, making his way home swimming up a creek to one of the ponds.)
The fairways are ample in width and the ball sits nicely. The tee boxes for the most part were very nice and the greens rolled well but slow, about a 7 on the stimp meter the day I played. I like this course, it has character, some elevation changes, a few forced carries and can be walked quite easily.
I was informed the course is owned by the Methodist University but they lease it out; the lessors have recently changed hands so I am hopeful there will be improvements in the near future. Improvements come at a cost so I see a rate hike off in the distance.
Oh, the ugly; along the wetlands in several places I noticed trash, beer cartons and empty bottles and cans. I suppose being a semi public course in close proximity to a university, some apartment houses and condos has a bearing upon the 'decor' as provided by the occasional passer-by.
The current weekday rate as published is $30.00 and 36$ on the weekend. When you find a Golf Now rate that entices you take it and "GO PLAY"; this is a course you should give a try; I will give it a second chance in the near future.
A special "thank you" to Stanley and Ed who were my guides through a lovey day at King's Grant Golf and Country Club.
Father's Day
Good course. Could use some work on the greens but good day.
Good course, will play again.
I have played this course twice and both times it was a good experience. Course was in good shape, greens had been plugged recently, that's always a little unfortunate but also has to be done. Fun layout and good challenges with strategically water and bunkers. Make sure you play the blues or black on #14. I will definitely play again, can't ask for much more out a
Of a $30 course.
Not Bad for a mid-day get away...
The course was in good condition, the greens appeared to have been rolled recently so some of the pin positions were interesting. I breezed through the first eight holes until I caught up with the tail end of a group playing on # nine. My quick round came to an end after that, I could see another foursome ahead of the group I was behind so playing through probably wasn't an option. The course has a few holes that don't set up well for me, being a lefty and not able to draw the ball. I'll be back out there in the coming months...
Club selection is key on this course. You have to hit the ball straight here in order to score.
The staff here is very friendly. The head pro is very cool and he and his staff take good care of the players.
Play with wife
Cloud and Rain Day, but pretty much good play each other.
King's Grant
Has been many years since I played here. Staff was great course was pretty good. The roads and paths were in need of repair. Overall had a great day.
Nice course
Kings grant is a solid course for the beginner to intermediate golfer. Facilities are not robust (gravel parking lot, snack bar was closed when we played but they did have free snacks available to compensate). Was busy but play kept moving on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. Good value for a good course.
Overall Good Course
Course is well maintained, though last week the greens were in fantastic condition and this day there had just but air-aided which made them a little sandy. Fantastic course for the price, best in Fayetteville
Nice design
It was very very wet when we played it and we could only be on the cart paths so it was a lot of walking. There weren't many people playing and we were just a twosome so played in under 4 hours.
Great course for the price
Lots of interesting holes. It was March when we played so the grass wasn't great, but they priced it accordingly. Definitely worth playing. I've played much worse courses for a lot more money
It is hard to beleive you are in the middle of town when you play here.
The only reason the pace of play went to 5 hours was the fact that we were 2 decent players and two leaners.
I can't say enough about the layout of the coarse, with the path following some nice houses and away from any traffic, you don't get distracted by car noise.
The clubhouse is being rearranged for a new look, with last years line of products deeply discounted.
And with the addition of new carts this year, there are no worries about thier condition.
