River Hills Golf & Country Club
About
River Hills Golf and Country Club is in Little River, near North Myrtle Beach, a Tom Jackson product that shows heavily-wooded, rolling terrain with elevation changes as much as 40 feet. Golfers won't encounter parallel fairways, but they will encounter fairways that weave through a series of homes, along with dogwood, maple, live oak, pine and cypress tees. They will also see quite a bit of water, though most of it is lateral.

Tricky course
If you’re a long hitter keep the driver at home. Dog legs everywhere. Greens were inconsistent but considering the time of year they were above average. Ball placement on tee shots was key.
Nice conditions
Played a fun round started on 10. Rough start but the day got better 4:23 minutes not too bad. Nice greens
Weird situation with having to leave my license for a HP flag. Almost forgot to get it back…
Would play again
Challenge
For the month of March the course is quite green. Several holes with water hazards make it challenging and fun.
Very nice place
My wife and I played.... we had a great time. Everyone working there we're super nice. The course was in great shape. Definitely worth the play
Nice layout
Early in the season, the grass is growing in, but still enjoyable. Quite a few holes have water hazards that make it challenging.
Outstanding golf course
Staff was outstanding, showed up as a single player but service was as if I was a part of a large group.
Hearty Myrtle Beach fare
Myrtle Beach being a mecca of buffet restaurants, it is also a golf buffet of sorts. Whether a given golf courses is considered a feature or filler is always a matter of debate. To me, River Hills falls somewhere in between those two descriptions. It has a handful of interesting, if sometimes quirky holes, balanced out with some more pedestrian ones. It was in really good shape when I played it, and the people and other facilities were nice as well. It may be more for the Chevrolet set than the jet set, but those sorts of courses can be a crucial part of a well-balanced golf vacation.
Depending on the tee, keep the driver in the bag
This was one of two courses we played during a golf weekend in N Myrtle (Coastal Golfways). It is probably fairly similar to several golf courses in the area, maybe closer to the higher end. I forget which tees exactly, but we shoot for total yardage under 6000. This meant that most tee shots were under 200 yds. I'll be honest and say that I wasn't hitting the ball very well that round. The course is tight, and the trouble was punishing. Seemed like every bad bounce lead to either a lost ball, or jail. I spent most of the day aiming for the 150 pole. I never did get the hang of the greens....they are quite a bit different than what I'm used to in East TN. The course was very scenic and well-maintained. I will mention that the USB ports on my golf cart was non-functional. I always carry a charging brick for this reason. If you are reasonably consistent in terms of direction and distance, you will enjoy this course. If you spray the ball, you're in for a long day.
Slow round
Nice course, friendly staff, but slow players which made for a long day
