Massereene Golf Club

Showed up yesterday to play a round of golf. Was told that all the greens are in play but 9 of them have had a bit of work done but still playable. All the greens have had work done. More sand on them than portrush beach!! Two of the holes were winter greens aswell. Buggies were £30 which I though was expensive for a course of that quality.

If i had have been informed about the course condition i would not have wasted my money playing or time traveling to this course!

I know it’s coming into winter but the condition of the course was in my opinion shocking! At least 6/7 greens were out of action and flags were placed in the fairways of each of these holes to represent greens! And the remaining greens that you were able to play on were full of sand to the point where you would probably have been better playing on a beach! Ridiculous! And the rough just off the fairways,well if you miss the fairway and go in there don’t expect to be able to find your ball! Was a joke! Only for me not wanting to start an argument i would have asked for my money back! I even got talking to a member of the course and he himself was angry at the state of it and told me that the only times the course is really looked at is when there is a competition due to played on it or captains day! Overall i probably should have played in my back garden as it’s in better condition!

The order of the tee's was blue, white, green and red. We played of the greens but on some holes the green and red tee's where switched which changed the yardage and on the 9th hole the was no green tee's markers at all. Great course would play it again.

First trip to Massereene and will definitely be back.

Course really really good condition, layout very nice pace of play slow first 5 holes but fine after that

Biggest disappointment was leaving my pw on 11th hole and group behind giving it to 2 young lads beside them by accident and the young lads went directly home with the pw 🙈.. tho this isn't the course or the staffs fault it was still a shame

Played with my mate, neither of us had played the course before. On arrival we were met by two very friendly staff in the pro shop, who gave us a run down on the course and a couple of tit bits of advice. The shop itself was high end and very well stocked. The course was fantastic, still a little soft from the winter but that can’t be helped. The tree lines and bunkers make it a bit of a chess match at times but very enjoyable, and the water in play towards the end made it a good fun finish to our match play wager. Will 100% be back.

Course was in great condition, greens in good order even on rainy day.

This was my first time playing Massereene Golf Club and won’t be the last. Absolutely great course with the greens kept in excellent condition for the wet weather we normally get over Winter.

I would recommend this course to anyone and I can’t wait to get back in the Summer when it’s 100% dry.

Most places closed or holes closed - a bit wet on front 9 but masserene was still in great condition and easily playable. Nice course overall. Sandy greens at the minute but still roll well

This course is a great layout and a good mix of hole layout, and is not easy, but definitely recommend anyone to go and play it.

Lovely course, and great condition for winter, will be back. Very welcoming pro and helpful club members.
