Golfer Reviews
To trolley or to carry?
There is a lot of ridge & furrow on this course, plus some steep descents, so it is debatable as to whether you are better off carrying. Anyone in a buggy would surely get seasick.
I would have said pace of play was decent, but I did note that 4 miserable old sods refused to let 2 young lads play through. The lads caught them up c.6th hole and stayed behind them for the rest of the round. Disgraceful. We should be encouraging young golfers, not trying our best to put them off!
If this were my club, I would have reported them to the committee!
Great Course
Greens immaculate, fairways were carpet like for the most part. Rough was lush and challenging. Some brilliant holes. Par 3's are fab and tough. Everyone was super friendly. Finished off with a great pint of real ale on the terrace in sun.
Brancepeth
Beautiful parkland course. immaculate fairways and fantastic greens. Really enjoyed it.
Just a class act
If you’ve never played here you should. So many great holes. Course in great nik especially considering time of year
Winter conditions
Arrived to find that 1st hole was out of play as they were working on irrigation system, so a long walk to 2nd to tee off. Several temp greens and tees in place, so some of the challenge of this course were taken away - e.g. drive on 11th.
Wet in places, particularly 18th fairway.
A lot of work needed to get this course into a good playing condition.
New course
Played 2 days in a row
Excellent course conditions 4 winter greens
Will play again soon
Well laid out course and very testing especially par3s
Winter rules in play
Winter rules mean you have to either use your own mat or you have to drop your ball into the rough to play it.
Course was wet in places but still very playable. With tree-lined fairways and lots of rig and furrow you are going to have some interesting lies. Par 3s are played off mats on par 3s, which are played over ravines (bar 1) which get your attention,
18 different and fun holes.
Valleys and Castles.
Super interesting course. Quality greens. Quality sand in bunkers. . Many valleys to hit over. Tricky par 3’s and long Par 5’s. Decent work out ,up and down hill in places, others connected by long bridges. Nice to have one green almost on the castle lawn.
It was alright at first..
Was slightly late because of road works and traffic, and on top of that a competition they had on alongside these tee bookings was ongoing over the top of our booking so we ended up having to wait 15 - 20 minutes for 3 sets of doubles to hit through messing up our pacing and causing half of our group to leave early despite paying for 18 the last 2 ended up finishing short on the 15th hole because the waiting had took the time off that we could of used for the last 3 holes so we had to skip them.
Wish I could get my money back but I guess we'll just never go again,
Wouldn't recommend for beginners and need to know the specifics if there is a tournament on before booking a tee time.
Golf course
Friendly staff and a really nice course , the greens are lovely with some outstanding holes
Excellent course
This is one of the best courses in Co Durham. My friend and I were partnered up with a couple of guys from the Manchester area who thought it was the best course they'd ever played.
The fairways and greens were in fantastic condition and although there was a society playing in front of us, the pace of play was brilliant. I only wish other society matches could do the same.
Definitely recommended 👌
