Crook golf course
Course suffering from the dry summer. Fairways ok, but greens in good condition. Dry grass made it hard to see golf balls at times. Fished play at 4pm, clubhouse shut no option for post round drinks
Well maintained course. Shame about the staff.
The course is well looked after, all the greens are immaculate and we enjoyed the round.
However when we arrived at 12:30pm, the pro shop was already closed for the day. This is lazy and unprofessional. The bar staff upstairs were next to no use, hosting some kind of kids’ birthday party and clearly uninterested in any golfers. I managed to get a scorecard from a bartender, but it skipped holes 10-13 - I’d assume the only cards behind the bar are old winter ones?
Sufficed to say - we didn’t bother staying for a drink after the round.
Good course, good value, abysmal service.
Quiet round in the sun
Great course, but it was TOO hot and the elevation meant I only managed 15 holes before I had to admit defeat 🥵🥵
Reminder to myself - book a buggy next time
Nice Course
Very nice course in great condition. Fairways were like carpets and the greens were lush. Club members were spot on. Pace of play was good and a 4 ball ahead of me waved me through without any issues. It’s a hilly course and the last few holes were a challenge. My only complaint - I was on the 17th green and the green keepers were on it rolling it whilst I was trying to putt. I get that to keep the course in the condition it is that these things need doing but even the group just ahead of me were shaking their heads at it. Just stop for a couple then carry on. Other than that though really enjoyed it and will play again.
Lovely course friendly people
Loved everything .. but hilly if that bothers you but otherwise great.
Excellent
One of the best courses you will play .not for the unfit!!!!
Hilly so plan your shots
Challenging and interesting course, green are faster than my normal club
Crook Golf Club
Played yesterday for the first time..a friendly greeting in the clubhouse..the lass behind the bar was lovely and very helpful..the course was in great condition..some challenging holes..long par 4s..the greens were in great shape..the lass in the kitchen was really nice and knocked us some food up afterwards..all in all a great day and a good price through the golf now app..will definitely go back.
Crook is a real test
Members and staff were helpful and friendly.
The first hole seems quite tame but it begins after that.
The course was dry which means the slopes and roll of the ball make this a real test. Add in the breeze and it all comes together.
Putting is also tested as all of us found the greens tricky to read.
On a sunny day the views are stunning and a good diversion if the golf isn’t going too well.
Decent course, poorly organised.
Reserved buggies as we knew it was a hilly course and was told on the phone to pay on arrival. Arrived to a full car park and pro shop closed. Went upstairs to members bar to be quickly dismissed and told there were no buggies despite the fact we had reserved them. None of us had brought a trolley due to believing we had buggies. Went to tee box and children from a christening were running around on the practice green and asking us for balls clubs and almost walking in front of our tee shots. Not a parent or member of staff in site. Course was well maintained and greens were fast but not receptive.
Decent course
I had to give staff friendliness a 3* because I never saw anyone in the 15 minutes I stood at the bar to book in.
They had an event on that night and the room was set out for the function, but nobody was behind the bar and the members just looked at me stood there, one fella came behind the bar to pull a pint of lager and never even spoke to me.
Overall the course was spot on and the wasted 15 minutes wasn’t too much of a problem because the weather and course conditions made up for it. Lol
Really good but no-one there
It was a good afternoon out. Course is good and weather was perfect. Only issue was that there was no-one in the club shop or clubhouse to give us a scorecard or to book us in!
Great course
Course in good condition for time of year. Challenging holes and greens . Reasonably priced too certainly not ripping you off like other courses in the area
Crook
Brilliant day, quite hilly but having played here before you know where the ball is going to run to. Greens on fantastic condition and always value for money
Was great to play here again after so many years (25years) will be coming back maybe become a member
Great course
Always a pleasure to play this course. The terrain is typical for the area, but that add to the challenge.
Excellent value, stunning views, great course
The course was presented immaculately. The fairways were challenging, as you can imagine, after 5 months of very little rainfall. The greens and fringes were perfect, possibly the best I have seen during this summer on any other course. Crook is challenging, but if you are fit and can hit the ball reasonably straight, you will love the course. It is not particularly long, but it has a lot of terrain changes. Some excellent holes, I loved the 7th and 10, both Par 3 of different lengths. If you love Golf, you must play Crook; you either play well and love it, or you blame everything else on the golf course.
