Challenging but nice for the money
Played by myself on a weekday no one out there hardly but a few members. Carts paths and carts were a kinda worn but course was in great shape. Hot deal on a weekday great course for what I paid.
Great course!
The course was in great shape and everyone I dealt with was very helpful and friendly. Definitely recommend you play here! Fairly challenging course from the back tees and a good variety of layouts.
Really Disappointed
i am new to area and played this course 3 weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised other than the greens were punched recently but almost healed. i decided to give it another try thinking the greens would be 100%. NO! i find they have verticut the greens and sanded them. it was horrible.i really think green fees should be reduced or golfers should be notified when making tee times about subpar course conditions.....not only that, the course is poorly staffed and managed. i played behind a slow fivesome all day and at the turn it got worse. for whatever reason there were 3 groups waiting to tee off. made for a long day. i complained to the staff but got little response. its a good course with great potential but dissappointed so far. too many nicer courses in the area to worry about it.
Course always decent, but greens a bit sandy
I've played the Country Club a dozen times or so as it's the nearest to my residence and nice course to play both in difficulty and it's general upkeep. They had however, recently sanded the greens, not necessarily plugged them, but sanded them quite heavily. I know this process needs to take place as a means of managing the course, but I've seen others take care of the process with a much less intrusive manner. Though putts where rolling true, there were times I would putt and sand would be spraying up behind the ball, in the same manner that water would spray up if the greens were soggy and wet. Also, due to this maintenance, the back 9 was completely closed, leaving us to play 18 via the front 9 twice. That was faily disappointing, but I do know that maintenance takes preference over getting a full round in. The course is nice and it is challenging, as it always the case, today just happened to be a maintenance period where only one set of 9 was open and the work on the greens left them excessively sandy.
Review
Very nice, but hard course, at a fair price. Yardage markers could have been more plentiful. Very nice greens, but the undulation for a first time player, was quite a challenge. I'd go back. Thanks----- Brent Saunders
nice course
staff not very friendly. played alone but made me wait and start behind a member group of 12. played slow all day. greens recently punched but still in good shape.
Great course with very nice fairways and greens
Very good course, the best band for you buck around Johnson County.
Nice course, nice people
When we got there, the man in the shop said that they were aerating the front 9 and We should've been notified by Golfnow but we weren't. (During play, I checked the app and it showed the symbol, but still no notification) He stated that we could play 9 holes or the back 9 twice, or he could fully refund our money. He was very accommodating. We decided to play the back 9 twice. It was a challenging yet fun course for us beginners. The course was nice and well kept. Also, not only the staff were nice, but other fellow golfers were probably the nicest we've ran into since playing. I would come back to this course again to play the whole course.
JGR
Surprised me. The coarse was in very good shape and for an early Saturday morning tee time the pace of play was great . Will play there again.
Greens were in Excellent shape!
$20 bucks for a round of golf on the weekend was awesome. We started around 12:20 and finished at 3:30.
Can't wait for the next Hot Deal!
Not too bad
After we played front , I noticed a lot people were jumped on back 9. 6 ppl playing together, they were kinda pushed us. I didn't like it.
Old School Course, Fun
Due to the beautiful day, the course got overwhelmed by golfers. The management offered us buckets of balls to use while the tee-offs caught up.At the GolfNow rate of $19.00 including cart, it's no wonder. The course is classic and is very rural. The Bermuda greens are not back yet from the winter we had, but were fine, although devious by slopes that areoptically tough to see and read. Fairways were great to mediocre, sand traps have dense sand, not very deep, hard to blast. A lot of the course requires local knowledge. Doglegs and bends with patches of water to trap you are around as the course sits at the edge of Holt Lake. Beware, there are the classic 200-150-100-75-50 yd markers, but none to let you know how far out the dogleg is. All in all, I'll go back... it was a fun place to play, especially at the price. Oh, yes, parking is tight, I was on a piece of land on the street near the lapping of the lake. Pretty layout. I suspect in another month this will be a great play!
Top Notch
First off I played CCJC two days after a week of rain and te fairway was emasculate! I expecting the see holes closed and cart path only rules so to my surprise it was just amazing. Second I left my sunglasses on the cart when we left, I call 24hrs later when I remembered them and expected to hear "no one has turned in a pair of Oakleys" but instead they had them, wrote my name on them and kept them safe till I could get back out there a few days later! I planned on being back to play here anyway, but this may become my new "go to" place to play.
The course was in good shape
Course was dry. The greens were fast. The grill was reasonably priced.
Bermuda greens! Enough said!
I'd have to say these are the best greens I've played on in the last 8 months! I've played a lot of courses and the bermuda greens were a welcome treat. The greens were in great shape and in summer condition; in the spring! The course was in great condition. There was nice sand in the traps, cart paths were well maintained and the tee boxes were good. The fairways were on the transition from winter to summer with some green. The holes were challenging. I believe this is a Ellis Maples design. The pro shop and club house facilities seemed a little run down, but it was a great golf experience.
I'll be back.
This was my 1st time playing the course. Now that I have a feel for it, I know I can score a little better. The traps were great play and well placed. Don't go long when attacking the greens.
Staff was very friendly and welcoming.
I enjoy playing this course
I love this course, however sometimes pace of play can be slow.
I would recommend a starter and a ranger.
Slow
Course was in great condition and it was a beautiful day. I was with threesome and we played the front nine in 1 1/2 hrs. We caught a foursome at the turn and we finally skipped them on the 15th hole. It took us 2 1/2 hrs to play the back nine. Nobodies fault but the group that was in front of us.
Excellent greens....
The course overall is a nice, easy round of golf...fun with doglegs going both ways. The greens overall were in really good shape. Only bad part (as of now, due to weather and grass type), the fairways were a little barren. They should grow in over the next couple of weeks.
Great value
Enjoyed the course layout. Even though the course is short of its lush season it was in pretty good shape. Greens were receptive. Fairways had little grass but it seemed like it would grow in nicely during the late spring. Will definitely come back in primetime season.
