Jones at Sea Trail Golf Resort and Convention Center
About
The Rees Jones course at Sea Trail Plantation is one of three courses on the property, which covers 2,000 acres of creeks and wooded lots.
It's in Sunset Beach, N.C., once named the top coastal destination in the U.S. by Money magazine, and in 2003, Golf Week named Sea Trail in America's best residential courses of distinction.
All three courses, by Dan Maples, Rees Jones and Willard Byrd got 4-star ratings from Golf Digest.
The Jones course opened in 1990 and has wide, rolling fairways and mounds and many of the elevated greens are surrounded by water. Water comes into play on 11 of the 18 holes, but those aren't the only hazards. You'll also have to deal with pot and large expanse bunkers. The course stretches to 6,761 from the tips and has a moderately difficult slope rating of 135 from the back tees. The Jones course has four sets of tees, down to 4,912 from the most forward tees.

Decent Course
The course was very wet due to recent rains but was playable. The greens were in good shape and rolled very true. The staff was helpful. The pace of play was very slow. It took about 2:45 to play the front 9. We got through the slow foursome at the turn and played the back 9 in 1:45. We still had to wait on 6 holes on the back. No rangers were evident to check on pace of play. With all the courses in that area, I would most likely not go back there again.
Sea Trail Jones course
New cart paths make the golfing great! Course was very wet, cart path only. The rye grass just came in and the place is beautiful. Noon tee time and got around in 3 hours 20 minutes. Great time. With no roll, Jones course played quite long.
Wet Conditions
Course was extremely wet from all the recent rain. Staff were very accommodating and helpful despite trying conditions. Very enjoyable day. Wonderful layout!
Good layout but poor condition
Course conditions were poor because of significant rain a few days prior to playing, cart path only, hadn't cut fairways or tee boxes in a few days. Liked the layout and greens. Hope to play course in future when playing conditions are better.
Overseeding season
The course was very wet because it has been overseeded and it was cart path only. No roll on the drive so the course was long with a couples of par 4 over 400 yds (white tees).
Good Course
Liked the condition and variety of holes. Plenty of room for the average golfer. We enjoyed are round and are planning on returning
allure de terrain de championnat

Excellent Course
The course was in great shape. Enjoyed the day in every way!
Great course
Great course and the golf now deal made it even better. Our group loved playing the Jones course and plan on playing again on our trip next year. The staff was friendly and professional.
Exactly what we were looking for!
We were golfing on a budget and we didn't want to spend more that $25 on a round and that is what we paid. Pros: The starter, cart paths, and sand traps were the best we have seen on any course. The fairways and rough were cut short and in good condition. The course was beautiful and had lots of wild life on it. Cons: When we showed up at the club house there was a line at the counter. The man at the counter took two phone call wile people were waiting in line to check in. It took took 15 minutes before we were waited on. The Greens were fair. We have played on lot better greens and lot worse greens. This could be a great course if they can improve their customer service in the club house and improve their greens. We loved playing here and we will play here again.
Overall great value & nice course.
Tee box at 16 was all sand@ a little burnt out considering all the rain they had here two weeks ago. Fun track with some nice par 3's over water. Great value for on-line price!
Penalty Strokes
Lots of water and bunkers protecting greens and forced carries on a lot of tee shots. It was windy so better to take extra clubs on approach shots to carry water or bunkers. My foursome elected to play the white tees, but they should have been playing the gold. I played my usual bogey golf, but they lost lots of balls. With the wind it was difficult to reach many of the par 4 from the white tees. Course was in fair shape, some of the greens were a little rough. Friendly staff, from the clubhouse, to the bag drop, to the cart lady! I will play again now that I have some course knowledge.
