MetroWest Golf Club
About
This Robert Trent Jones Sr. design is one of the area’s most venerable venues. The fluid beauty of MetroWest provides for a challenging but playable experience. Wide rolling fairways give all levels of players the opportunity to find the short grass, and the four sets of tees working from 7,051 yards down to the 5,325-yard forward tees make hitting greens in regulation a reasonable endeavor. No push over, though, bunkers seem to anchor every corner on every dogleg and elevation changes of up to 100 feet in some circumstances tug back in the course’s favor.

Won’t play again
It’s hard to know where to start. Entire facility looks like it’s closing. Chipping ‘green’ has grown over and is basically a field. Range was closed for maintenance which appeared to be picking up balls. Course conditions were dreadful. Greens were okay as were bunkers but everything else was seemingly neglected. Grass in fairway and around greens was no -existent in places . And when there was some it wasn’t great. Tees were even worse.
I played this course on a visit to Orlando 12 years ago or so and it was not the same course I played yesterday!
disappointed
played thsi course years ago it was good, but yeaterday not good, course beat up, looks like they don't put any money back into it
Great shape
One of the nicest courses we played while in Orlando. Lots of elevated greens for an extra challenge. Hole 4 is amazing with the view of downtown Orlando. Will definitely put this on our favorite list
Good value
For the time of year and course quality it can’t be beat
Before You Play Here....
I live in this area and rarely play this course. And every time I pass this course on the way home it is pretty much empty.
The greens are surprisingly good compared to the conditions of the rest of the course. The staff is extremely friendly and apologetic for the conditions of the course. The course layout (Long with tons of elevation changes) is rare for Orlando.
With that said, this course is way overpriced. The more you pay, the angrier you'll be after the round. Besides the greens (which aren't great, just not as bad) and layout, everything else is just bad. Horrible is a fair description. The carts are hoopties. You'll question its ability to get you around the course the minute you press the pedal.
$10... during the week? Sure. $25 on a Sat/Sunday? Fine. But the $50 to $90 this course demands is fraud.
Great course except
The course was very nice. The greens were sanded but rolled nicely. My 2 complaints. Not very many yardage markers. The rain canopy on the cart was missing the piece to keep it up. I had to tie a towel around it or I was going rip it off. 😆 I will go back with an app on my phone with some yardage information and I guess some rope just in case I get the same cart.
Decent layout
For the most part a wide open course. The greens were recently sanded and our late day tee time of 3pm or so ran into the sprinkler system going off on multiple holes - may have been running them a bit early due to sanding but conditions overall were ok but nothing special. Although we got a decent price I would have to know the conditions of greens and fairways were better before we would return. Pace of play good for first 11 holes then a log jam - quit after 14 holes and while driving in saw 2 single players and a twosome which could have solved some of the back nine slow down if some of these were paired up - nothing special about the course from what we experienced- note that the cart guy was very cordial and helpful
Eh
Others said it, I figured could it be that bad? Greens in great shape…traps were nice…fairways, not so much, pretty much horrible, especially for the price point…
Not a Fan
First time playing here. I thought I would give it a try as another golfer was surprised I hadn't played here and appeared to recommend it. Likely I won't return.
Booked a time expecting to play with others (i.e., only one spot open at that tee time) but ended up playing alone. Sailed through the first seven holes as expected, but after that I waited on every shot. While that is to be expected as a single, the group in front were also waiting on every shot, as were the group in front of them. No sign of a ranger monitoring pace of play.
Other than the bunkers (which were in great shape as they recently had new sand added) the course conditions were less than great. The greens generally rolled well even though there was some sort of white powder (possibly fertilizer but powder, not granules) covering a lot of the grass. In some places, there was so much powder you could scoop it up and make sand castles. Not much difference in the condition of the grass between the "fairway" and the "rough".
Also, noticed a LOT of unrepaired ball marks on the greens. That is not the fault of the course, but perhaps a reflection on the clientele.
Rough conditions
I liked the layout. It was a nice challenge but the greens left a lot to be denied. Sand all over them.i understand it was really damaged by the hurricane and it's under new ownership. I'm glad they are trying to make it better.
The course keeps improving
Played for the second time this year at Metro West and the course keeps getting better. Improvements and maintenance are ongoing and the results are showing. So glad to see this magnificent course responding so well to its loving care. Congrats to all involved and please keep it up! Thank you.
Pleasantly surprised
Greatly improved from the last time we played here a few years ago. Especially the fairways. Tees and greens could be a little better.but it looks like they are working on them. Counter guy and bag guys were friendly and helpful. Good value for what we paid. Thank you.
MetroWest
Booked it off of golf now at about $44. That is not that much money for this area, but the course was not worth that. I would say it is about a $25 course.
Greens were in fair shape, although slower than what I'm used to. Fairways were hard as a rock with not much grass, lots of tight lies.
The course is an exceptionally long course with, the best I could tell, only three sets of tees. I am a senior at almost 80 years old and unless I played from the ladies tees, I had no chance at all of reaching most of the par 4's in regulation.
They let me go off as a single which really surprised me, but I was following mostly couples who were all playing pretty slow. Pace of play on the front was horrible even though a few let me play through. Around hole 13 I got to the front of the pack and from there on to 18 it played reasonably fast.
I have absolutely no desire to play this course again. It is about like our municipal course back home, not much to brag about it. It was an interesting layout but I didn't care for the course conditions.
