Can see this course being really good when greens are well cut and gets some water. Perfect for what it was

Didn’t allow me to have my parent drive me in a cart

Took my daughter to play on Saturday afternoon. When we got there, they told us single rider only, which I understand. My daughter is not old enough to drive by herself while I prefer not to walk because I hurt my back a few weeks ago. So I asked for one riding and one walking. Guess what? They said no because they believe my girl will get into the cart. So I asked if that’s the guidance from County healthy department and the answer is “from our general manager”. We ended up leaving without play after spent 45 minutes driving there. Golfnow should list out such condition. Not sure if I can even get my money back! BTW, the guy at pro shop said S word in front of my daughter. Very very very bad experience, do NOT recommend AT ALL!!!!!!!!

I play Santa Anita often. Why? Its always in good shape for a public course. Great pace in the mornings when better golfers play. A bit slower in the afternoon. For a 119 slope course, it's not that easy. Using your Driver all the time, can put you in truoble. Here's a "on the green" Tip: 80% of the time the ball breaks away from the mountains. Enjoy! ;-)

Getting out early with a 7:25 AM tee time was very helpful in having a quick 3.5 hour round. Also, our foursome had two riders and two walkers, with the riders being in individual carts due to covid-19 social distancing guidelines. This really sped up the round. Greens were beautiful, though punched within a couple of weeks. Fairways were mostly beautiful with a few areas burned for lack of watering. The rough was very high, like US Open length, causing us to lo lose time to look for balls, some of them gone forever. I like this course. It has some wacky hills, especially on the 18th fairway where it is roomored to have old red cars from Los Angeles first mass transit trains buried in the fairway. The blind tee shot, doglegging right over trees and wackodoodle hills can really ruin your score card. But for the most part, even that part of the track is fun.

Greens were recently punched and sanded.Pace of play was 4 hours for our foresome.My group plays here on a regular basis...Opening restaurant can’t come soon enough...great spot for pre-round breakfast.

Trying to cancel my reservation for over two hours now and nobody is there to answer the phone. Not only that, their voice mailbox is full and you can not even leave a message to get a call back. If i am charged for my round tomorrow, i will be more than furious.

Made a time and never got a course verification from the course but did receive one from GolfNow. Showed up at the course and was closed. Heard from one of the labors that the course received a complaint of unlawful grouping of people and therefore was closed that morning. Received a notification from GolfNow 30 minutes before the tee time.

Only played the back 9 this time but played the whole course about a year ago. Not the longest course but what it lacks in distance it makes up for in layout. Will play this course as much as possible!!!

This is my 3rd time here. It's still a challenge. I love the layout and pin locations. The only negative thing was (and it's not the course's fault), the night before there was a huge wind storm that blew debris and downed many tree limbs, and it was too late for the crew to clean up. So, when playing, it was very easy to lose the golf balls, even directly on the fairway.

Other than that, I will definitely be coming back to this course.

It was not weekend but supper slow. Some players as beginner look like they have no trains of playing rules and played 2-3 balls for one play.

I had such a fabulous time playing there. The course layout was wonderful. It was a little crowded, however, we were NEVER rushed. I hope to get to play there again soon!

Santa Anita presents much more challenge than the scorecard would indicate, especially for a first-time player. The course is right in front of you, there are no hidden hazards or severe doglegs; The course is protected by the humps and bumps in the fairway and crowned green complexes. I struck the ball well off the tee and navigated the greens efficiently, but was a mess everywhere in between and have the score to prove it. The course demands precise iron play when approaching the green and a refined and creative short game to scramble if incoming shots are on line. I look forward to playing Santa Anita again and hope to bring a bag packed with all of the shots required to conquer this track.

Loved the wide fairways easy course for the driver. The greens were incredible lots of slope. Good combination of easy and difficult holes. Overall just fun to play

I've played this course since 1969. Because of its uneven lies and sometime difficult pin placements this course is a real challenge

I know it’s hard to believe that Santa Anita has greens that are running about 9-10 but today it’s true. Not the traditional waggling trail the ball leaves as it heads toward the hole but straight, and almost true. Not sure if the Super did a recent verticut but whatever was done I sure hope it is done more frequently, maybe once a month.

Now my biggest complaint are the conditions inside the sand traps. I have noticed that sand has been added to several traps, for sure the front right trap on hole 4. However they still have a few more critical traps to add more sand or better yet have maintenance drag the sand down from the high sides of the traps to the middle. I specifically can site hole 6.

Finally last week I thought the Superintendent had the maintenance crew OVER water the course and this week seems to be overwatered too. I did have 5 tee balls that had mud on the sides. So lift, clean and place should be the norm.

Beautiful course, great and friendly Staff, good greens fees. The one and only complaint I have is that the pace of play at times can be very slow. Getting behind a 5-some with push carts and umbrellas is the absolute worst. Especially when you catch up to them at a tee to find nobody in front of them and they are sitting down resting. Sheese!!! But that is really the one and only complaint I have.
