Carolina Shores Golf & Country Club is situated in Calabash, N.C. a scenic fishing village. The mature woodland landscape provides a secluded and relaxing setting that is ideal for a round of golf. Though it may be peaceful, you still have to be on your toes with plenty of water hazards and sand traps lurking throughout this traditional layout. Mature trees line the fairways, requiring even further accuracy. The golf course is known for its natural crater lakes, which make an appearance on several holes. It is a course that rewards strategy and skill over brute strength. The holes will make you think, but overall Carolina Shores is a forgiving golf course that is playable for all skill levels, especially with five sets of tees ranging from 6,085 yards to a lengthy 6,755 yards.

I have played over 200 courses in over 40 states and 3 countries. This is the worst course I have ever played! Fairways have not been cut and are mostly weeds. Traps are mud and gravel. Greens 80 % dirt 20% weeds. Do yourself a favor and never play it

Carolina Shores
I have played golf for over 50 years. I have played some bad courses, this was the worst ever. Every green was in very bad shape, no grass or clumps of grass here and there. Could not roll the ball only bumpy all the way. Fairways mostly weeds. Should get our money back. Thanks Jim Colomb

Course conditions
The staff were very gracious. The course, however is in very poor condition. The greens are basically dirt with weeds. It appears this was once a beautiful golf course.

First time at Carolina Shores G. C.
The course layout is good, however the conditions of the Greens were very poor. The cart paths were for the most part very rough and in bad shape. The staff however were really friendly and accommodating. I played alone and two groups of 4 and 2 let me play through without asking. The people who play here are really nice and understand the etiquette of golf. My compliments.

Tee to green this course was in terrible shape.
The grass was uneven and even non existent in some areas of the putting surfaces. This course could be a lot of fun to play. The layout is good, but if they don't invest in the course conditions then it will be gone before long.

Wow
The condition of the fairways and greens left a lot to be desired. It was wet in the area but the fairways had very little grass if any in spots and the greens we mud in some places this course will not be around in a few years if the conditions are not improved!

I can honestly say this course is in bad shape. Greens are unputtable. I was seriously considering asking for a refund. If condition does not improve this place is not going to be around. Dad

Very poor conditions
The grass overall from fairways to the green were bad. The staff was friendly and the holes had character, but the grass was terrible. I won’t be back, especially for the price.

Recent pleasant experience at Carolina Shores.
Recently myself and two friends played here and found the course in good condition. Also note that it appears they have been making some improvements. It was a great experience including getting my first hole in one. This was on the 12th hole and went in after one boince. A great feeling.
Thanks to the owners as this was the second time we played here recently and it is obvious the owners are putting some work into the course. Plus the staff were extremely pleasant.

Not like it use to be!
Its sad to have a layout thats challenging and fun but the golf course looks like its been closed and just now reopened to get play,,,, itrs my 3rd time playing with GroupGolf Vouchers in the last 4 months,,, nothing has changed as far as the course, I use to be a member in the 90's and it was a premium course, Just a little TLC would go a long way, The staff in the club house is very cordial, just wish the investors would spend some money on the course.

Tired
This is a golf course community course that is past it’s time. The fairways are rough and bare in spots. The cart paths are so rough that anyone with back issues should not drive on them. There are much better courses in the area. I have been playing golf for over 40 years and I have never observed what happened when I played this course. The starter let 2 gentlemen out ahead of me that had 10 dogs walking around with them. I still am having a hard time getting my head around this.

OK, All Things Considered
Like many Eastern NC courses, Carolina Shores appears to face some money difficulties that affect the course upkeep. The staff was great and the layout a fair challenge. The weather here has been wet and it affects play. The greens are slow, but true, and the fairways are in need of some attention. The sand traps are treated as ground under repair which probably should be the case at other courses in the area given the current weather situation. Price is quite reasonable and I will play again.
