Carolina Shores Golf & Country Club is situated in Calabash, N.C. a scenic fishing village. The mature woodland landscape provides a secluded and relaxing setting that is ideal for a round of golf. Though it may be peaceful, you still have to be on your toes with plenty of water hazards and sand traps lurking throughout this traditional layout. Mature trees line the fairways, requiring even further accuracy. The golf course is known for its natural crater lakes, which make an appearance on several holes. It is a course that rewards strategy and skill over brute strength. The holes will make you think, but overall Carolina Shores is a forgiving golf course that is playable for all skill levels, especially with five sets of tees ranging from 6,085 yards to a lengthy 6,755 yards.

Was good for the money
I played for less than 26 bucks is how I will start the review. The course needed grass cutting which was underway as I played. The sand traps have not been maintained for some time and some had grass growing in them. I was advised because of covid 19 is why However, I believe a course should maintain their traps. The greens were slow but most were O K. I like the layout and played this a few years ago when in better shape. I would recommend this course as a $25 course but would have been very disappointed had I paid more.

All you need.
Course is in rough shape, mainly the crab grass, greens and bunkers. This could be an amazing course with some TLC as the design is fine.
Would play here for under $30 but don’t know if I could justify more. Staff is super friendly

Lack of maintaining
Course was not mowed . was told at desk rain prior wks put them behind but tees had 4" trees starting to grow. I think that takes more than one wks. Tees and fairways made finding ball tough and made for slow play. Greens slower than molasses. Overall I was very disappointed. Will probably never return.

Poor condition
Layout was good the first three tees and fairways were unmown. After that, average conditions. Greens were like a shag carpet. There was no one on the course so two of us played in under three hours.

Relaxing and accommodating Course
Friendly staff relaxed atmosphere. Good value for price T times most always available. They had let the rough grow this day which made drive accuracy even more important. Mature Trees line the fairways and can easily add a stroke. Course allowed me to stay under my handicap after making adjustments for slower putting speeds on greens. Whatever break you see cut It in half and long putts will drop in cup. I will be coming back.

Great Practice course
The staff was amazing and the information they provided about the course was great also love the layout of the course. The course itself could use some TLC fairways and some of the greens had far too much crab grass

Don’t waste your money, time or effort no matter the price. Hit several drives straight down the middle of the fairway and the balls were lost. Not worth it.

Awful, awful conditions
This course is in such bad shape, it’s really not even funny. You honestly could not tell a difference in the rough and the fairway, and the greens were beyond shag. If you hit it in the sand, forget about it bc they are all but abandoned. It’s really sad to see a course in this area in such bad shape.

Have played this course many times in the past. Was Nice. Now it is in very poor condition. I am surprised Golf Now would have it listed!!!!

Waste
This course might go down in record for being the worse golf course in the calabash - north myrtle beach area. There is crab grass all over the greens and the fairways look like rough. Overall this course needs to either shutdown or allow individuals to play for $5. I’ve seen mini golf courses better than this. Absolutely terrible!!

Put some effort into it
I liked the layout! But thought if they did some work it could be a lot better. The fairways and rough were hard to tell the difference between. Liked the place just some TLC was needed.

ROUGH Conditions
Layout deserves better conditions & maintenance. Clearly not enough $$$ put into the course. Type of grass in fairways...3 inch crabgrass, literllay EVERY hole. Fairways not mown in many days. Bunkers mud & totally unplayable, Staff, which were VERY nice, told us members played bunkers as ground under repair & took free drop out!
Got a deal on green fees, $36 for TWO players. Including cart, so what do you expect for $18??? We got what we paid for!

over grown crabgrassy mess
This course had super deep crabgrass everywhere. There were very few exceptions to this. Absolutely no roll hard to hit the ball 1st it was so very tall. Also the maintenance crew was oblivious to us. Had to tell one of them to go to the back side while we finished the front, he was following us trying to rake the bunkers, altho most of them had deep water in them. Poor, poor conditions. Have to say it is the worst course I have ever played.

MUST BE OFF YEAR
This was the worst I have ever seen this course. Tees and greens were overgrown and in need of a good mowing. Piles of dead dried grass covered most of the fairways that were even cut.

Wet
The course was in horrible shape except for a few of the greens. Hit yourself ball in the middle of the fairway and it’s lost in 6” of weeds. I was told that they had a lot of recent rains, but it looks like it has been neglected for years.

Not a Bad Deal
The course did not weed because it was not sure if it was going to open. The course was ok, but greens were pretty decent. They are working on getting it back on shape. Staff was great, pace of play was great and for less than 35 dollars, this is not a bad deal at all. As some have commented, the paths are not great.
