Carolina Shores Golf & Country Club is situated in Calabash, N.C. a scenic fishing village. The mature woodland landscape provides a secluded and relaxing setting that is ideal for a round of golf. Though it may be peaceful, you still have to be on your toes with plenty of water hazards and sand traps lurking throughout this traditional layout. Mature trees line the fairways, requiring even further accuracy. The golf course is known for its natural crater lakes, which make an appearance on several holes. It is a course that rewards strategy and skill over brute strength. The holes will make you think, but overall Carolina Shores is a forgiving golf course that is playable for all skill levels, especially with five sets of tees ranging from 6,085 yards to a lengthy 6,755 yards.

Very poor fairways and rough
There was more crabgrass than Bermuda on some of the fairways. Some of the greens looked rough also.. No doubt the worse course I have ever played for conditions.
Has seen better days
Course was not in good condition. Needed to be mowed and maintained. For the value is would not recommend.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY
I usually don’t write reviews but this course was so bad that I had to share so you don’t waste your money. I’ll keep it short but fairways were bad, greens were worse. The rough was basically overgrown weeds in need of mowing. The cart paths were almost unbearable to drive a cart on. Definitely the worst course I’ve ever played, and I have played at some pretty rough courses.

Not in the best of shape
First let me start by saying the staff was very friendly & helpful. But the course itself was in poor condition. The tee boxes were mostly sand & dirt, fairways were very thin with weeds growing in them. Looks like they have not been cut in a week or so. The greens putted true but were pretty burnt up. Have played this course about 5 times over the past 3 years and was definitely not up to par. But for $32 to play on a Sunday afternoon was ok. I will try it again in the late summer or early fall to see if any improvements have been made. Course layout is decent and fair to the average golfer.

Great Value
This course is of great value if you want a track through the Carolina Pines and intertwined with Mother Nature. The course needs some upkeep, and the cart path is atrocious (I agree with previous post) but I never thought I’d be able to play a round for that price down here. Will be back again! Also very accommodating, I was a single rider and they let me politely zip through in under 4 hours so I could get to the beach!

Worse course in America
Tee boxes and greens have no grass. Fairways and roof are all weeds. Absolutely worst golf course in the world!!!

The course is a hidden gem for the price
Have played the course on several occasions. Staff is all friendly and professional. Course is challenging but fair. I will definitely return.
If your Limited on time Try elsewhere
The conditions were just plain unacceptable. No grass on any of the tee boxes, really fuzzy fairways that were so saturated your ball would plug and be covered in mud anytime you hit them. All around the course needs a lot of work and if your on vacation you would want to spend one of your few rounds elsewhere. The staff was extremely professional and friendly though just unfortunate the course was in such bad shape.

Not worth the cost
Greens were in terrible condition. Cups had not been changed in days. hard to find grass to play off in fairways

Won't be back soon
The 2 stars are for course design and pace of play only. Course conditions were horrible on this once great course. Even allowing for the massive rainfall here in the last 2 weeks the course is in terrible shape. No grass on tee boxes: huge muddy bare spots all over the place greens with compressed bumpy surfaces and dead spots. I won't complain any more because I played for free using my Passport monthly freebie.

It was cart path only today. But the course was so wet that was the only way to go. Pace of play was excellent and I would play there again. Some tee boxes are a little sparse and some of the greens need work..
Nice course.......Great price. The staff was very nice and helpful. The clubhouse was spacious and the snack bar was clean and offered drinks and snacks. I would recommend to my friends.
