Carolina Shores Golf & Country Club is situated in Calabash, N.C. a scenic fishing village. The mature woodland landscape provides a secluded and relaxing setting that is ideal for a round of golf. Though it may be peaceful, you still have to be on your toes with plenty of water hazards and sand traps lurking throughout this traditional layout. Mature trees line the fairways, requiring even further accuracy. The golf course is known for its natural crater lakes, which make an appearance on several holes. It is a course that rewards strategy and skill over brute strength. The holes will make you think, but overall Carolina Shores is a forgiving golf course that is playable for all skill levels, especially with five sets of tees ranging from 6,085 yards to a lengthy 6,755 yards.

Not well maintained
Fairways were crabgrass, weeds and Bermuda. Bunkers were just washed out hard packed sand or filled with water. Only $25 to play so got what we paid for.
A once good course
This course was probably nice at one time, but now it is in need of alot of work.
Cart paths are black top craters.
Bunkers are fiull of water and some weeds.
Greens are patchy.
I would only play here if I had a discounted rate.
However the lady in the pro shop was wonderful.

Not worth $36
Worst course I’ve ever played in myrtle beach by far. Greens were longer than the fairways. Tee boxes are dirt and sand. Bunkers are either dried up on puddles throughout. By home (Cincinnati) this would be a $15-$20 course.

This course is in really awful shape. Sand tee boxes. Rock hard bunkers.

Rough ride
Don’t start at an early tee time. This course could be nice later in the day but at 8:15 it was soaking.

Great Welcome!
Love the way the staff treats you. Although this course may no be the most challenging, the overall experience was top notch for both my wife and myself. Coming from the northern climes, Carolina Shores was our first round of the season. Fairways are wide to soak up the errant drives. Conditions although somewhat wet are very good. I;m sure the sand trips will improve once the weather gets better. We will be back.

Dandelion Haven
The course looked great from the road but the conditions of the course from tees to greens were sub par. Nothing mowed, no grass on the tee boxes and dandelions growing everywhere. The course was busy and had a great rating but I think we were playing on a course still not recovered from last years hurricane, that would probably be their excuse. Anyhow my brother who has a 7 handicap had his worse round in years because he was so disappointed with the conditions. We also get stuck behind a 3 some with no groups in front of them to be seen from the first hole. They would not let us through and there were no rangers to help us out. I think the course has promise but I would not play there again. This is my first negative review that I can remember. The good point of this course was the Pro shop manager and the starter. Sometimes taking the bargain round does backfire.

Very Poor Condition
This course has had NO maintenance. There are no tee boxes, crabgrass everywhere, lots of hard dirt to hit shots, etc, etc. If they aren't going to take care of this course, close it and build more homes. Very disappointed that we spent that much money when other well-cared-for courses are available. Quite a shame to let this course get so deteriorated,

Course is in rough shape
This course was rough. From the tee to the greens and including the greens. I played here last year and the conditions were the same as this year, not good. Tee’s were not looked after, the fairways were hard to distinguish from the rough and the greens need a lot of work..The only maintenance the sand traps received was when someone was in it, (if they raked it after getting out) . For the money,($38.49) not a very good bargain. They say that the 3rd time is a charm, but I can't see this in my future.

Soggy fairways
We played this course twice during our recent golf holiday in Myrtle Beach.
The first time we played we found the conditions poor due to a lot of soggy areas in the fairways but because the staff were fine, the layout good and the right price thought we’d give it another try. We won’t return in the future unless weather in the area has been dry for at least a few weeks. I find losing a ball in the fairway after a decent hit because it’s so deeply plugged very aggravating!

pro shop was accommodating and courteous. the starter had a personality of a door knob. fairways are rough, lots of crab grass, and weeds. the greens are left to be desired. when i called before i booked the tee time, i asked for the condition of the greens, was told it was excellent. this was not at all true. their standard is low. highly advice to stay away. its not worth the money. paid($38) about the same money to play Wachesaw East (much better condition).

Tee offs are not well prepared the traps still has water, the greens are still in state of needing care

Greens rolled real good and staff was great. But the tee boxes and overall shape of the course was very neglected. Could be a good course to play with the layout but not very good shape.
