Carolina Shores Golf & Country Club
About

Carolina Shores Golf & Country Club is situated in Calabash, N.C. a scenic fishing village. The mature woodland landscape provides a secluded and relaxing setting that is ideal for a round of golf. Though it may be peaceful, you still have to be on your toes with plenty of water hazards and sand traps lurking throughout this traditional layout. Mature trees line the fairways, requiring even further accuracy. The golf course is known for its natural crater lakes, which make an appearance on several holes. It is a course that rewards strategy and skill over brute strength. The holes will make you think, but overall Carolina Shores is a forgiving golf course that is playable for all skill levels, especially with five sets of tees ranging from 6,085 yards to a lengthy 6,755 yards.

Worse course ever
I have played golf for 25 years and my husband probably for 48 years. We play and travel everywhere. Carolina Shores is without a doubt the absolute worst course we have ever played. They should be embarrassed to even be open. The one and I do mean one staff member was super. She could not have been nicer. Please save your money.
Cow pasture with 18 holes in the ground
Course look like a cow pasture with 18 holes in the ground no difference from Tee Box to rough to Fairways greens have lost 90% of their grass they are like putting on freshly punched greens with no dressing I would put this course in my top 3 worst courses I've ever played and I'm 61 years old
Don't waste your money!
The condition of this course was the worst I've seen in 35 years of playing the Mrytle Beach area.
Wet and soggy
Very wet sand traps like ponds, greens very bad shape probably because of weather.Only good thing was the tuna sandwich I got at the turn along with the cold adult beverage
Go elsewhere
This course was probably very nice at one time but not now. Greens in very poor condition. Tees in rough shape. We only paid $38.00 incl. cart ( Hot Deal)but one can get much better courses for a few extra bucks.
golf in Myrtle beach
Our first time back to golf here in several years. We chose this course bc of the price for our warm up round. The manager Philip was a prince and gave us free range balls, but the range was all weeds as were the fairways. Several greens were winter kill and lots of blind water hazards. Their course pictures on the card were excellent and the cars all new and great. The difficutly level was ok but lots of target kind of fairways that required more accuracy than we could muster our first time out hence many lost balls.
Sad to see such great possibility in a course just let go...lack of funds is the answer to that question. We won't be back but we sure liked the manager. He was wonderful
Way overpriced
Out of the 10 courses in Myrtle beach area we played this one was the worst by far. The course is not well maintained. We paid 40$ but not worth more than 20$ at most.
Very bad greens.
The greens were hard and painted. Had areas on the that looked like a dry mud puddle which had cracked. High wedge and iron shots could bounce over 4 feet into the air, then roll off the greens. Starter had us begin on 10th which put us ahead of the foursome making the turn. Were able to play our round in three hours and twenty minutes.
Needs work
Course is showing the winter effects. Greens were in bad shape, bumpy and spoty. The tees were clovers or sand. Hope the spring weather will make it better.
Horrible condition
Was 1 of the worst courses I have played. Cannot believe that they charged 29 bucks to play nine holes. Wasn't worth 5 bucks. Greens were worst shape I have ever seen. No fairways just a bunch of weeds. Sorry for such a bad review but expect better than this when paying for a round of golf.
Poor condition
The course was in pretty bad shape. We like the layout but there needs to be a lot of work done to bring it up to standard.
The fairways are really rough.
Course needs attention
Tee offs were in rough shape. Some of the fairways need attention. Still early in the year though
Cart paths need improvement, fairways could be better, but it is early in the year.
Staff were very nice and helpful, course is not in the best of shape but it is only the beginning of March. Green fees were reasonable therefore value for your money was fine.
WASN'T SO IMPRESSED
It was great weather, but the course conditions are not . We played this course late February and we thought that the conditions might have improved since then with the good weather we've had, but they haven't. The fairways are still quite rough and the greens are hit and miss for grass. We still like the layout and it's really too bad that the course is not in better shape. It was not worth the price we paid today for this round.
ENJOYED THE ROUND
First time playing the course this year. It needs some time to get into better condition. The tee blocks are very patchy but the fairways are not too bad. The greens are hit and miss. Some are not bad but others are very fast with little grass on them. In addition, I think they should rethink some of the red tee boxes. A few of them seem to be just red stakes stuck in the ground in a mowed circle at the beginning of the fairway. Not impressed with that. However, all-in-all we did enjoy the round. Liked the layout. It's challenging without being deadly. It gives you the opportunity to score well if you're having a good day, but won't kill you if you're not. Would play it again, it's good value for the price we paid.
Great layout and Tremendous Value
Played!18 holes with my lovely wife and enjoyed every moment of this beautifully designed course
cart path only
front nine is not very exciting. the back nine has lots of water hazards and is a challenge. the grass was sparse on the fairways and wet from overnight rain. an ok course but there are better places to play.
i shot 45-43 from silver tees which was a good score considering all my drives plugged 160-170 yds out. the silver tees are 5500 but with the wet ground, played like 6200
