Carolina Shores Golf & Country Club is situated in Calabash, N.C. a scenic fishing village. The mature woodland landscape provides a secluded and relaxing setting that is ideal for a round of golf. Though it may be peaceful, you still have to be on your toes with plenty of water hazards and sand traps lurking throughout this traditional layout. Mature trees line the fairways, requiring even further accuracy. The golf course is known for its natural crater lakes, which make an appearance on several holes. It is a course that rewards strategy and skill over brute strength. The holes will make you think, but overall Carolina Shores is a forgiving golf course that is playable for all skill levels, especially with five sets of tees ranging from 6,085 yards to a lengthy 6,755 yards.

the course is not up to Myrtle Beach standards

The person at the desk when I checked in acted like I stole something when I asked for the lunch tickets. Course is in very poor shape. Some greens were un-puttable. Tee boxes need to be cut. Some tee boxes looked like they just put the makers in the first patch of grass they found. Will not be going there again.

Not as nice as I remembered

The course has a nice layout and the people were very friendly . However this course needs some money put in fixing it up. The pace was good because we didn't see too many other golfers . We enjoyed ourselves and the price was ok.

This course is a joke for playing and for golfnow.

Don't waste your time playing this course unless they make major changes to it quickly. Cart paths are ridiculous, dangerous and outright poor. Tee boxes are terrible and greens are even worse than some of the tee boxes. Practice range and putting greens are an embarrassment. The lady working in the pro shop should look for another job. Bottom line is don't play this course unless they have have made major changes and put something back into the course. Forgot the sand traps .... you wouldn't let your kids play in them they are that bad. WARNING STAY CLEAR OF THIS FACILITY ....

Deceivingly, very fast greens

Breaks generally readable. The greens were very fast, properly cut and even though still moist, they seemed soft enough to hold.

Great course but needs attention to bunkers and greens

We only paid $20 for the round; so, excellent value for the money!

Good course to work out the kinks in your game.

The course layout and general conditions of the fairways was fine. The greens were an coarse Bermuda, and did not putt nearly as well as some of the newer hybrids. As others have said, the cart paths are really rough. However, the price was right, and I enjoyed the round.

Average course let down by its bunkers.

Good value

I found the course well maintained with the greens rolling true. The driving range and putting/chipping areas were very good. The large bucket of balls seemed to be a better buy. I liked that the course had holes that were challenging but not brutal. If you have a low handicap and only play high dollar courses then this may not be your cup of tea. It does provide a good course for high and mid level handicaps but it still can be demanding for anyone from the back tees. If I return to Myrtle Beach area I would like to to play it again.

Well maintained fairways and greens

The fairways and green were well maintained. The bunkers needed some work and the cart paths were the roughest I have ever driven on for a country club. They use bungee cords for additional golf bag support. The staff was friendly and helpful. We played in the afternoon so we were given carts that went out earlier that day. Needless to say, one died on number 6 and the other on number 9. We called the pro shop and they sent someone out quickly with replacement carts. They did not have a beverage cart, so we carried our coolers after playing 9 holes. All in all, I would play this course again...if the price was below $20 a round.

The cart paths are the worst that we have encountered in the area. They are in dire need of repairs!

Good layout, very slow greens.

Overall, the course was not bad, it is an old course. It does need more grooming for detail areas. Front side is completely different layout from back nine. Limited on yardage markers. Cart paths are very rough. Be sure to bring printed confirmation from GolfNow, they won't let you play otherwise.

Good course for the average player

This feels like a typical public city course. Greens were slow, but taken care of. The layout is good and moderately challenging. This is a good course for the price.
