Carolina Shores Golf & Country Club is situated in Calabash, N.C. a scenic fishing village. The mature woodland landscape provides a secluded and relaxing setting that is ideal for a round of golf. Though it may be peaceful, you still have to be on your toes with plenty of water hazards and sand traps lurking throughout this traditional layout. Mature trees line the fairways, requiring even further accuracy. The golf course is known for its natural crater lakes, which make an appearance on several holes. It is a course that rewards strategy and skill over brute strength. The holes will make you think, but overall Carolina Shores is a forgiving golf course that is playable for all skill levels, especially with five sets of tees ranging from 6,085 yards to a lengthy 6,755 yards.

Awesome price!!!

This course definitely needs some attention... but the fairways are in pretty good shape, all things considered. Most greens are respectable, and the tee boxes are as well.
The clubhouse is very nice and the staff are super friendly.
If you want to go out and have a good time and your not a super serious golfer, than this is the course for you!!

worse cart path ever

Most hole identifications were broken and laying on the ground. This course needs lots of work. From cart paths, to maintenance of fairways and greens this course has been neglected. Old and showing it.

Value for the right price

Got a Hot Deal on Golfnow that made it hard to pass up. Had read some reviews earlier that suggested this course may not be worth the drive from Myrtle Beach. They were wrong.

The good : greens and fairways were in good shape. I expected worse. The bad: tee boxes were overgrown and bunkers had almost no sand. The horrible: cart paths were unbelievably rough to drive on. Starter actually warned us to check our bag straps on the cart occasionally as the bumps on the path can dislodge things.

My son and I played 18 holes in 3 hours. Felt like out own course.

Pro shop and snack bar attendants were extremely friendly and helpful.

Bottom line: the financial strains the course is under are showing in some ways, but given the rates available on Golfnow I felt it was great value for our money.

great for the money

this course reminds me of the courses in jersey - maintained but just enough to play a good round - as for beauty - a little below average considering it is in myrtle beach. but the price is definitely right.

Impressed

First off, the price for this place is well worth the money. The staff there is second to none, from walking into the clubhouse to the snack bar and walking outside and having our clubs loaded up and ready to play. You might not get the glitz and glam of some of the other courses in the area but it was a great relaxing round. The course was fun to play, greens rolled true to form. Greens were well protected by bunkers and water. My son and I enjoyed playing here. Worked out great it was only a couple of miles from the vacation house. 1st time playing here but whenever we go back we will make sure to make this course a staple in our vacation plans!

was probably great 20 years ago, needs attention now

greens were good, fairways ok, bunkers mostly unplayable and cart paths were so poor and rough, I was constantly concerned for the possible damage to my clubs from them banging into each other

Not difficult -- just fun. No real surprises. The course played well and the starter got me out early before the Men's group.

For the money it was fine

We were able to get a $10.00 price to play this course and for that price it was fine. It is clear that the course has struggled and has not been able to be maintained terribly well. We figured that out when the scorecards were Xerox copies... as opposed to actual cards. This also appears to be a course where many locals play who may not be serious about golf or etiquette. One golfer was seen shirtless a hole ahead of us. We ended up going completely around that foursome because they were very slow.

Great price ($16 per person), poor quality course.

Purchased a foursome for a great price ($16 per person) to play some golf with my wife, dad and brother. Course is not well maintained. Tees are in bad shape, carts paths are in need of repair, sand traps are not maintained. Clubhouse air conditioning not working (on a 90+ degree day), lost liquor license, minimal selection of food. Will spend a few extra dollars per round to get a higher quality play in the future.

In need of Maintenance & Customer Service

I sincerely think I threw my back out on the cart while trying to maneuver over all the bad patches of asphalt. This course is in immediate need of major maintenance; we played barely nine holes and gave up. The course was teeming with players on top of each other, there was no customer service and the course was in appalling condition, both the asphalt paths and the actual playing course itself. The kicker, we had lunch in the "clubhouse" it consisted of pre-made wrapped sandwiches. I had two large bones in my chicken salad (within the first couple of bites), we notified the “clubhouse” attendant, and she said she would let the lady who made them know. Again we said we would have to throw away the uneaten sandwich and was not given an apology, nor the option of another sandwich or a refund! !! I know you get what you pay for, but it is not worth it at all! Don’t waste your time or money!

An old golf course. Well maintained.

With exception of the old asphalt cart paths which have been degraded by the roots from the 100 year old trees this was a nice track. Throw in the price and it's THE best golf value I've ever seen.

Well worth the trip.

When I saw the hot deal I had to try it. The course recently had alot of rain so it was cart path only. We enjoyed every minute. They picked up our bags at the car and had us ready to go. Once we teed off we didn't have to wait to hit another shot. The course was not too tough but each hole was different. We will definitely be back.

Very nice staff, very nice course, great price.

The staff was very friendly, they really make you feel comfortable once you arrive. We've been dealing with a lot of rain lately in Myrtle Beach, and we actually got rained out that day, but the gentleman at the main desk seemed very accommodating in giving out rainchecks to those who asked. We finished about nine holes, and I really enjoyed the layout of the course, has a classic feel to it. I really recommend it, particularly for the price (we found a deal for $13, but in the middle of the afternoon).

Staff was super friendly and course was nicely laided out though a quaint neighborhood. Best $24 ever spent for 18 holes, cart, lunch and a beer @ turn ever. even if the greens had just been air raided.
