Carolina Shores Golf & Country Club is situated in Calabash, N.C. a scenic fishing village. The mature woodland landscape provides a secluded and relaxing setting that is ideal for a round of golf. Though it may be peaceful, you still have to be on your toes with plenty of water hazards and sand traps lurking throughout this traditional layout. Mature trees line the fairways, requiring even further accuracy. The golf course is known for its natural crater lakes, which make an appearance on several holes. It is a course that rewards strategy and skill over brute strength. The holes will make you think, but overall Carolina Shores is a forgiving golf course that is playable for all skill levels, especially with five sets of tees ranging from 6,085 yards to a lengthy 6,755 yards.

Course was really rough and greens covered with sand and we would not recommend it.
Disgrace
There are not enough words to describe the mess that course is. Take it off your program.
Greens in rough shape
If you are looking for a quick and economical round it’s a good place. Good layout, but the greens are really in tough shape.
Stay Away
To say this course is in rough shape is an injustice to the word rough! I don’t know what their story is but tee to green this was the worst conditions I’ve ever seen. Half the course was cart path only and there hasn’t been rain here in days. The staff was friendly. In fact when we walked in he said the rate had been dropped to $49. I should have been suspicious. Second clue - no cars in the parking lot. This contributed to the great pace of play. We caught up to another two some on 17. The single behind us caught us on 18. We thought the layout had real potential but unless they put some money in, this place is closing soon.
Rough shape
We played after a rainstorm the previous day. Drainage not good. Cart path only and very soggy fairways. Nothing had been mowed in a couple of days so greens were slow and fairways thick. Course needed a lot of maintenance. Staff was super friendly and helpful.
Needs as lot of work
Like playing in a field with a flag crabgrass fairways sand greens it’s a mess not worth 10 bucks

Had a great time, but course was pretty rough. Grass was high and greens were ugly, but still I really enjoyed it.

Not a golf course
Terrible over priced. Appears to be waiting for condominium to buy the land.
Fairways are ivy, greens un-puttable.

Terrible course
The is perhaps the worst course I’ve played except for one in California. Greens, fairways and tee boxes need major work. Not a good golf course. Someone needs to take control that knows how to operate a golf course. Done wate your money

Substandard course
Fairways unmowed greens pitted and in terrible shape

They have let this course run down greens where ruined most of them anyway. Fairways not mowed good looked like first cut of ruff on most courses. The only good thing was the pace of play. No one was playing.

Friendly staff, nice layout. Lost 3 balls in fairway due to lack of mowing. One cart died during round. About half the greens were playable, the others were sand dirt and bumpy. Good course for a beginner.

Hot day
A group of 4, 2 adults 2 kids went at about 10am. It was boxing hot in the 90s. The course was a little rough as far as the greens being under repair but the scarcity of players allowed us to take our time and work with the kids which was great.
The two staff members in the clubhouse were awesome and made sure we had a good time.
We’d definitely go back but hopefully next time it won’t be so hot!

Friends don’t let friends play this course
Want to lose your ball in the fairway because the grass is so high? Play here. Want to put on the equivalent of a sand trap with weeds? Play here. Ever felt the urge to use a 3 inch tee and your ball still be covered with grass on the tee box. Play here. 30 years of bad golf I’ve never wanted to quit mid round. Finished the 11th hole today, and drove back to the car to head home. I’ll give them one thing, the staff is extremely friendly, but that’s the only thing I would give more than one star. If you hate someone who loves golf, please recommend this course.
