Carolina Shores Golf & Country Club is situated in Calabash, N.C. a scenic fishing village. The mature woodland landscape provides a secluded and relaxing setting that is ideal for a round of golf. Though it may be peaceful, you still have to be on your toes with plenty of water hazards and sand traps lurking throughout this traditional layout. Mature trees line the fairways, requiring even further accuracy. The golf course is known for its natural crater lakes, which make an appearance on several holes. It is a course that rewards strategy and skill over brute strength. The holes will make you think, but overall Carolina Shores is a forgiving golf course that is playable for all skill levels, especially with five sets of tees ranging from 6,085 yards to a lengthy 6,755 yards.

Great Atmosphere!
Always enjoy playing this course at Calabash! Our first course we play every year on our vacation to Sunset Beach. The staff that run Carolina Shores are super nice and make you feel right at home. The china virus has not been good to these folks and are struggling to keep this fine course up & running. So please play here as often as you can so they can continue to up grade this fine course! Very Friendly Staff
Overall the course is not in that great of shape. Grass clippings everywhere and the greens had sand and dead spots all over. However this place is great if you are a beginning golfer. We weren’t pushed along. We were able to play at our pace and enjoy the day! Loved the staff! I would recommend for Beginners!

Staff in pro shop and starter are excellent but not the course
Pro shop and starter are excellent and very friendly. That’s all the good I can say. Cart paths are broken and almost grown over. I could not tell any difference between fairways and rough. Where the grass was had to been 6 inches long everywhere. Greens were about 2/3’s bare and sandy. It’s time to put some money into the course and make it playable or close it down. It really can not get any closer to not being playable than it is. Spend your money elsewhere. Sorry to write a review like this. I’m just being honest. I would love to see course get fixed and become playable again.

Staff is friendly but course is terrible shape
Pro shop and starter very friendly. That is ALL the positive I can give. Cart paths broken and almost grown over. Fairways and rough looked the same. Grass bout 5 inches everywhere except the greens. Not much grass on them. It’s at the point of deciding if this is worth or close all together. Can not drop any farther. It’s really bad. At one time I could see it was nice but that most definitely was many years ago. Not close to now. Play somewhere else. Best advice I can give. Course deserved zeros on everything BUT staff friendliness. That gets a 5 !

Poor Alternative
We were so happy to get an early morning tee time at another course--when we learned that our original course to play was closed due aeration. We were welcomed by the clubhouse staff and shown the amenities in doors. However--the outdoor staff (the starter in particular) was unprofessional and uncommunicative. We put out bags on the rack in front of him. He explained that we weren't on the t-sheet and so he wouldn't let us load our bags onto carts. Several minutes latter he said that he would load the bags himself only when he was "good and ready". The course was newly mowed and none of the clippings had been removed. The practice chipping and putting areas were each covered in an inch of new grass clippings. The tee boxes and greens landing areas were bare. The price was low--but the experience was bad. This whole course should have been closed and under repair!

Poor greens
Most of the greens were in horrible condition, many bare spots. Rest of the course was in good condition.

The course is ok, but....
The course is ok, but the greens are in terrible shape. Even where there was grass, it wasn't cut well and the balls didn't roll well. I couldn't recommend it for the serious golfer.

Course was in terrible shape, the tee boxes, sand traps and greens. Putting had bare spots, traps were hard and some had standing water in them. I would not play there again.

Awful Condition
This course has gone downhill. It’s never been great, but now it’s embarrassing. Tees have little grass, greens have many bare spots, with only dirt. I almost asked for my money back, and won’t play there again.
