Great place to play- Photo submitted by goody39420 on 04/18/2013
Beautiful setting.
Great views on a clear day and nice back. If your a long hitter you can let it rip.
good conditions
I had a enjoyable time for the first time in 8 years golfing,I had knee replacement in january 2014,and many surjuries prior so I didn't have the flexability I am used too,but it was fun but fast paced
Hot golf
The temps were in the high 90's. The coarse is a fun older design. It starts you off by feeding you to the wolves on the 1 handicap hole. Besides the difficult coarse, there is an abundance of wildlife. I recomend playing this coarse.
Some difficult holes
Play was good pace. Areas of the course were soggy. Some of the rough is so long as to lose a ball. Bunkers too hard.
Course in ggod shape
You will need to play this course at least once or twice to figure out how to play some of the holes, or be fortunate to play with somebody that has some experience with the lay out. Some drives are blind shots as to the location of the green, and placement is key to avoid blocked shots to the green by mature trees.
Beautiful Sierra Foothill course
I continue to be amazed at the outstanding golf values available in the Auburn area (having just moved from Monterey, CA where green fees are 4x higher). This course if fast becoming one of my favorites. The facility has an excellent range with unlimited balls included in your green fees. The ONLY downside is that you have to hit off mats which I detest. Video golf lessons are available where you hit on turf which is big plus. Check out this course. You'll be glad you did.
Good experience
I enjoyed Auburn Valley Gold Club. Friendly staff, easy-going atmosphere, kind fellow-golfers. I will go back for sure!
This course is absoutely beautiful.
This course has spectular views. It is very well maintained and was a very nice break from some of the Sacramento courses. The greens were deceiving. I loved this course and will return (hopefully) very soon.
The course is in need of some attention
Started with checking in. The young man behind the counter was very friendly and helpful despite the fact that he was short handed. We teed off right on time at 7:30 am. We played at our own pace through the whole round. I did notice the rodents are just starting to overtake the course and am a little concerned that the course is going to become like Woodcreek in Roseville. All in all play was excellent. It was a good day.
Was a beautiful place to play
It's a nice course. Fun and challenging. Lots of fun holes.
Great setting
Greens are in terrible shape with fungus , otherwise the course was in good shape . Green speeds varied a lot and it was hot and humid but that is what we get this time of year.
Enjoyable Old Style Course
Enjoyable course in good condition. Fairways are well irrigated and fair, and rough is not too penal. Also decent advantages for ladies and seniors tees. Greens are challenging, smooth and true, and relatively fast. (I found the practice green conditions are consistent with the course greens.)
Lots of course elevation changes, but fairly well designed for it. However the course has several greens unsighted from the tee, which are real head-scratchers for first timers. And unfortunately the score card does not include a course layout.
So, bring your GPS, right? Fair Warning!! The Back 9 was apparently previously the Front 9, and vice versa, but your GPS might not know. I was half way through the round before I figured out why my Garmin yardages were so screwed up.
Definitely enjoyed the course, and look forward to going back.
Nice greens
Great course
Only complaint is that the bunkers have no sand . There is about 1/8 inch of dirt and pebbles covering hard pan. It would be nice if they put at least some sand.
slow play
Course was definitely overbooked. Play was so slow we actually quit after 13 holes.
Good test
This course is challenging and actually needs to be played a few times to know the nuances of the course. With quick greens and open fairways you'll find the course fun and challenging!
great day for golf
Maybe it was the time we played, 2 pm but we only had 1 delay during the entire 18 holes. It was a beautiful day and the scenery is incredible.
Excellent
Great experience. Greens are fast but true. Fairways are soft. Service was great. Very friendly staff. Really nice course - especially back 9.
Fast Greens
This is one of my favorite foothills courses, with some of the best greens to be found. Very, very fast.
Amazing Day
Outstanding course!!! Great shape from tee to greens. Staff is friendly and helpful.
Already booked another round, next Saturday.
Thank you, Auburn Valley!!!
